As a Christmas gift experience, I bought the Fireside Dinner for my son and his family. They found it to be a magical experience as the two children were invited to help stir the chowder and help with the meat on the roaring fire. Food was delicious and plentiful and the look on the children’s faces when they saw the massive bowl of whipped cream was priceless! Riding in the wagon pulled by magnificent working horses on a very cold evening will forever be a night to remember. Stepping back into another era perfectly completed my Christmas wish for them. Thank you for their great memory.
fireside feast. so fun, so much food and it was so good. everything was great but the chowder and the pie stand appart as particularly great. Come early and come hungry.
Did the fireplace feast, such a fun experience, horse drawn wagon ride. Prime rib roasting over open fire. Mulled cyder. Everything was great. The seafood chowder and apple pie where the standouts but everything was delicious. You won't leave hungry.
This was a great day! Beautiful historical setting. The staff are all happy and friendly. We rode a horse drawn carriage. Beautiful horses. The food was soooo delicious! The employees were very informative about what they were doing. Even the cheese, crackers and fruit were delicious. Very generous with the food and you can have seconds if you want. The prime rib was unbelievable. Even the rolls were homemade and yummy.
Wonderful experience. The Owner was very gracious and told entertaining stories of the area, farm, and food. The clam/pollock chowder, prime rib, and apple pie recipes and cooking methods were all unique to the Salem Cross Inn and delicious. Well worth going out of your way for a memorable experience.

The soup was very fishy
They refused to give me another option. Prime rib was too salty and under done. I wanted medium. Well done or raw were only option

Visited this restaurant on a bus tour. Wonderful place! Such a nice setting. Everyone was so nice and the food was delicious. They had three weddings, our bus group and regular customers and they handled everything amazingly.
We had a wonderful birthday lunch and were very well taken care of by the staff (Thanks, Jes!) The food was well prepared and flavorful. The atmosphere was great. We got there early and were able to get a small room to ourselves which was fantastic. Pretty location and property. Definitely recommend.
My husband and I had the pleasure of dining at this lovely historic restaurant and we savored every minute of it!!!! Wonderful ambience , fantastic food and outstanding service from our amazing waitress , Mary, ensured a very special evening!!!! We look forward to returning again soon!!!!
I went for at 430pm dinner on 4/19/25. I haven't been to the Salem Cross Inn in several years (2016) and was pleased to see the same high quality food and service that I fondly recall! If you like a Colonial American vibe this is the place for you, and you can't beat the great menu! We had the mushroom bruschetta for an app (so good), then the Hunter Chicken and the Yankee Pot Roast for our entrees. I overheard that there were two weddings being held there that evening and in spite of that and several larger groups in the restaurant the whole place ran like a well oiled machine! Our server, Mary, was very nice and efficient. Our meals were delightful! The portion of my pot roast was quite generous, in fact I even had leftovers (mostly because I wanted to save room for dessert, haha). I sampled the Hunter Chicken as well and that was lovely as well. For dessert we had a key lime pie and the apple pie. I didn't realize the apple pie is on the menu as "Deep Dish apple pie" until writing this review when i had to refer back to their menu. That explains why it was quite large or at least larger than I expected. That's not a criticism at all, but just an FYI. It is definitely "split-able" between two people. It was very tasty, as was the key lime pie. Like I said it's been a while since I was at the Salem Cross Inn but I couldn't recommend it more. I'm looking forward to coming back at some point soon!

Some good, some not as good and some ugly. Lets start with the good- excellent mulled cider, seafood chowder, roasted potatoes (although only two ping pong ball sized ones), and cheese spread appetizer. Seconds of meat or pie allowed. Only meh- only one ticket per person for the mulled cider, prime rib was nothing super, very fatty and a little tuff. Butternut squash soupy, hard dinner rolls, apple pie was not really pie as there was minimal top crust on a mound of quite sour and quite crips apples, whip cream had no taste at all nor sweetness. The cider was no where ready on time nor kept refilled. The wagon/sleigh ride was nothing. Advertised as "ride through the valley on our 600 acres" was no where near that. The ride was maybe 10 minutes out a short mud driveway, turn in a circle and come back. The track was so rutted that you bounced up and down on the hard slat bench. Stirring soup was no big deal either. Only a few people were given opportunity to stir it 8 times (yes, they counted). The ugly- one man cooking the meat was extremely rude to me for unknowingly getting a glass off the table for the cider. I was scolded that i was NOT to take the glass. I said sorry. then he accused me of sticking my fingers in three glasses that I dirtied and let me know he was annoyed that he had to take then and replace with three new glasses. Why would he think a grown woman old enough to be his mother would stick her fingers in glasses? He than scolded me again and told me to get away from the table in front of many people. I was totally embarrassed and humiliated. I felt the $89 was overpriced for what one truly ends up getting.
Great food, great service and beautiful setting. Varied menu with some delicious standards and some specials. Leave room for dessert!
We had booked the Fireside Feast for New Year’s Eve in September. Our family of 6 were very disappointed with the whole experience. The staff, cider and apple desert were the only things good . Downstairs was overcrowded and loud. The cheese & crackers app was non existent for the amount of people. Once upstairs it seemed unorganized and rushed. Not enough staff to handle the amount of people needing to be serviced. The prime rib was overcooked and sides cold. For the $534 meal and 4.5 hr drive we were very disappointed with the whole experience. I feel we may have had a better experience by staying upstairs and eating off their main menu ?
Called with a request for a 5:00 pm New Year’s Eve reservation and because they were not open until 4:00 pm NYE they never returned our voicemail. Why not have online reservations so we would not have waited for your call that never came?
We attended the Fireplace Feast on a Friday night in December. The Inn is stunning, the location spectacular and the Feast was well worth the trip. From the mulled cider and cross country wagon ride to the blazing fire used to cook the diner, you felt as though you'd stepped through time and landed in the 18th century. All of the food was top notch, pleasing to the eye and absolutely delicious. We sat at a convivial table of eight and had an enjoyable time hearing everyone's stories. Service was excellent, pleasant and attentive. Bar service and wine list available. Recommended without hesitation.
