Simply the best service, food, and family atmosphere in the valley. Paul and Amy do an incredible job as a team and as 15 year guests (previously at Chez Albert) they feel like family. Visit the Waxwing if you can, it’s an experience.

At the bar or in the booths it doesn't matter with how the whole place welcomes you in open arms. Tue 17th I've enjoyed one if not the best Cafe in my books to relax and visit often in the future. Food is delicious!!! Incredibly creative chef. Service was excellent. The restaurant is loud, although as the evening went in it got quieter. The food is so good we’ll definitely be back often!!

During the pandemic, it had just opened and was fantastic. Then I don’t know what happened. We’ve had issues the last 3 times, and now this will be the last time we visit this establishment. We have a reservation with some friends today at 6pm. It’s raining outside and arrived at 5:47. The door was locked. Someone came to the door and told us we must wait outside and come back at 6pm. If you leave me in the pouring rain for coming 10 minutes early for my reservation, you clearly don’t need my business or patronage any longer. Maybe they’re busy enough that they don’t need us? *Edited after their response: It is clear that WaxWing does not need our business. I will be sure to let everyone that that Wax wing does not want the business, that they have plenty and are perfectly fine with their behavior. There are plenty of restaurants that treat their clientele appropriately. Why on earth would I approach them while sitting in their dining room when they were too busy to let their customers inside in the pouring rain? So that you could be snotty to your customers in person? No thank you. I'll just find more review websites to let others know that they should visit other area restaurants.

Expensive but worth it. Over several visits the food has been consistently very good. Service is above average for the area. Parking is easy. We will be back. Only open a few days a week, call and get a reservation. It's always busy.

Dang it, I usually have pictures but the food and drinks are so good that taking a picture was the last thing on my mind. The menu always changes, I've been to this restaurant 4 times now and never had anything that wasn't delicious. It's a family run business, I don't know how they're doing it but everything is really special. They do get very busy so I suggest a reservation, later in the evening the bar and tables do open up. We usually eat dinner at the bar.

I have nothing by great things to say about this place. Best dining experience ever! They have a special place in my heart after being there a few times! We'd never been here until we stumbled across it the other day. We did everything wrong for this small place--called in at the last minute to make a reservation, showed up way early to our reservation thinking (wrongly) they had a big bar attached--and they were tremendously nice about it anyway. And then the food and service were terrific! We particularly liked the home-made pate and venison special, but everything was (to our taste, at least) perfectly cooked. We'd go back again in a heartbeat, except next time give the staff a break by not making our reservation at the last second and coming to the restaurant at the appointed time.

it was our first experience - the food was very good, but that’s the only good thing. It opens at 6 pm, we arrived about 5 minutes before and we were very rudely told by a woman to come back at 6 (how leaving the door locked!). I was told later that this person is the owner!
Once in, it took 45 minutes to get our first round of drinks (we were the second party thru the door and folks arriving later were served well before us).
We just hosted a party of 21 at this amazing restaurant and it was truly spectacular! From cocktails to wine pairings to platters and canapes through a specially chosen dinner menu finalizing in a dessert buffet, everything was delicious, beautifully plated and lovingly served, all as close to perfection as we could imagine. Chef Paul was very accommodating in our menu choices and his food was beyond compare. Amy and her waitstaff were gracious and caring and did everything they could to ensure that all guests were well taken care of. If we could give them a 10 star rating, we would.

I love this restaurant! This little unassuming place has the most delicious food, right up there with the finest dining I have experienced! Everything is prepared and presented beautifully. It is so clear Paul, Amy, and their staff love what they do and treat their patrons with warmth and generosity. Thank you for such a lovely evening for my friend’s birthday party!

My friend and I found this gem on accident and we have all the best things to say about it! The menu was diverse and everything we ordered was delicious. The drink menu was crafty cocktail style that we don’t see a lot of around here. The owners and their staff were very professional and super friendly. Great spot for a date or an outing with a group!

Food is nothing short but incredible. Highly recommend the special which was a halibut with mashed potatoes and capers. The apple crisp type dessert was literally the best dessert I've ever had. Great vibe.

Tried to come in on Friday night and they were booked. I mistakenly misread their website and didn’t make a reservation. The hostess was extremely rude and crass. She could have politely suggested to make a reservation next time and instead she was rude. Off to Calico we go. Such a shame because it was super cute but I wouldn’t want her waiting on me.
