Outstanding service. Great variety of apps. Quality burger. Nicely curated beer and wine list.
I had my birthday dinner at the bluebird pub for the first time and I enjoyed it so very very much. The food was delicious and the server was so wonderful. It really made my birthday a wonderful evening. I will be back.
Service was incredibly slow. We had to repeatedly track down the waitstaff, who seemed overwhelmed despite a mostly empty restaurant, and it took us about an hour to get our main course. No bread or anything to tide us over between the small chicken wings appetizer and the main course. Kofta was good if pricey but had to wolf it down to make our movie. No attempt by management to give us any compensation or even to apologize.
The cocktails at the BlueBird are first rate. I was intrigued by the "Zombie" as the menu notes they will only sell one per customer. It was very good, and the bartender was open to requests for which ingredients to go light on vs heavier - in my case it was less apricot and more lime. The Impressionist remains one of my very favorite drinks there. I do, however, struggle with the quality of the food - and have since it opened. That said, the manager was terrific about comping food that -in our opinion- did not turn out well. It moved this review up a star just for that. Our server was new, but she did a great job as well.
The service was perfect and the oysters very fresh. The fattoush salad was a bit disappointing. All in all, we really liked it.
We had a fantastic meal and experience at Blue Bird. Very cozy vibe and the food was excellent. We had the mussels, chicken wings, hummus and grain bowl. All delicious!
Nice server, good bluefish pate, terrific mussels, burger ok, fries very crispy, we did not like the fatoush salad at all
The hummus and burrata appetizes were great. Our entrees were all delicious and if you like oysters, go befire 5pm for $1 each deal.
Always great food and friendly, efficient service. Love this place. Casual, fun atmosphere.
Oysters were very good. Also the fries and baba ganoush were excellent. But the skewers of meat/fish ranged from OK to not particularly good (e.g. the lamb, (which is a lamb sausage of some kind, not chunks of lamp).. There must have been a problem in the kitchen, cause there was about a 45 min. wait from the time we got the oysters to the time they served the rest of the meal. When one of us asked about it, we got a less than solicitous response from the waitress; there was no apology for the delay and no explanation. The service experience was frustrating. this was our second time there, and the first experience was much better.

Food is always great and fresh. Atmosphere is really nice. Wish it was closer to were I live but we keep going because it's worth the trip!
I've been here several times for oysters and a burger. Solid gastropub if you want to sit at the bar and order appetizers. However, this time wanted mains and these were disappointing. Plus, the service was lacking - brought food we didn't order, never asked if everything was ok, ordered drinks that were never brought...and I had a clear view of our server chatting with the bar staff. Moral of the story is sit at the bar (the bar staff is always welcoming) and order apps.
We picked this place because of the good reviews and its proximity to the West Newton movie theater. Food was great, service was excellent, would definitely recommend!
Have been passing this spot on my way home from work and have been meaning to stop in. Dinner with a friend tonight it was the perfect location! Great food, interesting menu, nice vibe, good service and we weren't rushed . We will be back!
Everything was perfect and it is a great place to meet up with friends or come as you are for a drink at the bar.
