We had a wonderful experience and have returned a few times. All of our dishes were tasty except for the ninebark salad. It was delicious although for the price they were extremely skimpy with the lettuce, and I finished my salad and watched everyone else enjoy their dishes. If you charge that price point for a salad I believe you should be generous with the foundation of the dish which is lettuce.
We had a lovely meal. Service was fantastic. Two of us had the recommended specials - two ate off the regular menu. Everything was cooked perfectly and tasted great. The restaurant had a great vibe. While the restaurant is large enough to accommodate lots of people (we did not have to wait long for a table on Saturday evening) the seating is spread out over three levels so each area felt intimate. The menu had a very nice mix of items to chose from so it will be easy to come back again and again and still be able to chose new items to enjoy.
We stopped in for lunch on a very rainy weekday. Service was friendly and timely. My friend had a salad and I had 2 appetizers- ahi tuna and the burrata. All the food was excellent in taste and presentation. Can’t wait to go back to try a burger or pizza. Or their popular chicken Milanese.
Dietary restrictions: They have several vegetarian and gluten free options. Working to add a GF bun.
Parking: Meted lot across the street and metered street parking. Several paid lots in the area.

The food was above average, but the service was the most broken I’ve had in Newton. Nothing went right. Our waiter was nice enough when we saw him, and seemed to know the menu. But no one came to take our order until we got up to ask; drink orders were comedically incorrect; no salt/pepper when food arrived; wrong bill. I wasn’t going to review them, because anybody can have a bad night, but I saw at least two another reviewers had a similar experiences with dysfunctional operations, so I’m guessing their front of house operations are often janky. Just not worth $100 for dinner for two.

Was visiting Boston and staying near Newton, MA
We didn’t want to drive into Boston for dinner and decided to check out Ninebark in West Newton so we could avoid the traffic and drive. Was SO GLAD we dd!
While their pizza oven was out of order that evening; the entree’s we ordered were outstanding.
Service was very attentive and professional.
We started with their Butternut squash soup which was very flavorful and nicely pureed. We had the fish n chips and Cobb salad with grill shrimp and they were winners. The tables next to us all ordered burgers- which looked outstanding.
We finished with a delightful pistachio gelato from Italy. (Outstanding).
If in the area I give this neighborhood gem two thumbs up!

Nice, upscale restaurant, with an emphasis on drinks, but all food and drink items were top notch and delicious. We had an excellent meal and hobknobbing, after having interred our mother in the Newton Cemetery, and were feeling pretty chipper after the meal/etc. A very good experience!
This place looks very nice, it’s nicely decorated, and people are dressed smart. But the food feels more like bar food.
We had a couple of issues with the burger that didn’t come on time and when it finally arrived, it wasn’t cooked as requested.
The tagliatelle pasta was OK although didn’t have a whole lot of flavor. The other pasta and cream was good.
The Brie in puff pastry was really good, wings were really good, and the grilled cheese sandwiches.
Unfortunately their oven was broken so we couldn’t try any of the pizzas.

Stopped in for a drink and had the buttermilk marinated calamari which was to die for. We have had calamari all over the world. This was the best 10 out of 10.

A lovely spot to meet friends. I had a burger on a brioche roll that was delicious and it came with a dinner salad (I choose over fries) that was outstanding. The salad was very fresh and even had a generous amount of avocado. We will definitely return!
Our first time here. There was some confusion amongst the staff upon our arrival and seating as to whose section we were in. This meant we waited awhile for a server and water. Server apologized, then informed us the head chef quit and walked off that day, so things were rather disorganized. Many menu items were unavailable. We gave up on entrees and settled for salads and calamari. The quality of the food was good but the salads came out before drinks arrived at our table, and the croutons in the Cesar were a bit stale. I felt the beer list was diverse but pricey. Most premiums at $10 or more. The wine list had plenty to choose from with several good options at $12 or under, on par with other spots in the neighborhood. The Provence rose was very enjoyable. To their credit, Ninebark does not charge a kitchen fee. Atmosphere was quiet as we were there on a Monday evening. Parking is easy with the commuter lot right across the street. We will likely give Ninebark another try in a few weeks after they've had a chance to recover from their staffing challenges.
At my table for four we had very happy customers. The service was excellent and prompt. The food was a smash: calamari was delicious. My Caesar salad was perfectly dressed. The sole special was truly chef's kiss caliber. One of us had the puttanesca pasta. She said it wasn't saucy enough and needed a little more zing. All in all we vote for a return soon!
