We finally tried this restaurant and liked it so much that we brought friends back the next week. Sat at the bar the first time and in one of the dining rooms the second. Servers and bartender are top notch. Lovely atmosphere. We really liked the duck but it was off the menu by the second visit. Had the shrimp and polenta appetizer both times, it was fantastic. The seeded focaccia is also a don’t miss treat. We had and highly recommend the cod and the grilled swordfish entrees.

The ambiance was nice. Food was ok, not a lot of flavor. We got there early in the evening before it was very busy. Staff not very welcoming or friendly. The greeter at the door, the man with grey hair, was on his phone when we walked in and he did not acknowledge us. Did not feel very welcomed for first time visitors. The seater just dropped us at a table and walked off did not ask if it was ok. We stood and waited to see if someone could assist us in relocating to another table and waiters walked by without offering assistance. When ordering our meal the waiter was very keen on telling us what they could not do rather than what they can do to make the experience positively memorable. Eg cannot substitute regular potatoes for mashed potatoes. I expected more from a higher end restaurant. Their customer service needs a lot of work. Would come back but more for the ambiance and will not have high expectations.

The food is excellent! Hangar steak, swordfish, end of summer veg, shortrib, warm salad. Affogato and the apple dish were excellent meal enders. The downside is the service - the hostess dipped our menus in the table and walked away before we even had a chance to sit down. The restaurant is extremely dark (everyone is using phone flashlights to read the menu). We had a member of our party with a vision impairment and I kindly asked the hostess if we could possibly be moved to one of the multiple tables on the window because of this (it was an early seating), and she didn’t even try to make it work. The tables sat empty for most of the time we were there. The waiter seemed nice but never asked how the food was, weather I wanted another drink, etc. no one thanked us as we paid and left. A little more care in the front of the house would do wonders. Kitchen is 5 stars. I would suggest table lights that cast the light down - would allow diners to see their menu AND the food (which is beautiful when you shine your flashlight in it) while still maintaining the ambiance. We improvised by setting our phones atop wine glasses and casting a light down on the table. Like that there wasn’t loud music playing.

Food is decent, with good quality ingredients, but too much going on in each dish. It's a lot of money for what you get.
It's a nice evening out, but don't expect the moon.

Local atmosphere; fantastic apps (buratta), entrees (Cod and Hangar Steak) and dessert (Greek Peach cake). Food was fresh and lite. Whole experience was top 10 for me.

Food was bland and boring. Everything has dairy in it. Not really open to modifications for restrictions. The service was the best part of our visit here. Major disappointment.

This is one of the best meals I’ve ever had. My girlfriend and I were celebrating her birthday and we tried multiple dishes on the menu.
Firstly, it may be out of the way from the main cities but it’s 100% worth the trip. Everything is farm to table, laid-back, casual atmosphere, and a very cool restaurant design. There was also a very professional and kind wait staff.
Now, the best part, the food. We got the mussels, burrata and the polenta to start - every dish was exquisite in its own way. Personally, I never pick any of those dishes on a menu because it’s not what I typically like, and I loved them all.
For entrees, she had the halibut (a special at the time), and I had the wagyu burger with brie cheese, bacon, balsamic onions, and buttermilk aioli on the side. This is one of the best burgers I’ve ever had. So flavorful. Her halibut was also delicious.
We bought about 8 of their candy bars to take home. You can only buy them from the restaurant and one grocery store on the island.
Such a great place! Fine dining without the stuffiness of fine dining. The fact that they carefully select their food also is amazing.
Best money I spent in all of Martha’s Vineyard and I’d do it 100 times over.

I had this place on my Cape Cod bucket list specifically because I read somewhere Larry David frequents it (sorry, Larry). Now I know why! It was absolutely delicious and amazing start to finish. The drinks, food, service, ambiance-all perfect! I really appreciated the manager squeezing us in since we did not have reservations (make reservations)! It was my favorite meal on my Cape Cod and Islands adventure!

Came here on a Friday pre summer season. David was our server and was excellent. The menu has a little bit for everyone. We got the oyster sampler (delish), polenta (okay, a bit under seasoned), and chopped salad (fresh, zippy, bitter, wish there was more nuts and blue cheese) to start. For our mains I got the mussels and OMG - best broth I’ve ever had with mussels. My husband got the cod which he loved. Again, David was top notch with his recommendations and menu knowledge. Couldn’t recommend this place enough.

Tuesday night is burger night so we planned to go here all along! We both ordered Wood Grilled Burger which was wagyu beef, balsamic onions, bacon, cheddar or brie, garlic dill pickles on a potato bun. We shared a side of fries. Everything was tasty and we are glad we added this to our culinary journey of Martha’s Vineyard.
Parking: There was plenty of parking off season even on a busy event night!

We had an absolutely lovely evening here. The food was fantastic and the service was impeccable. It made our return to a beloved island just that much more special!
Vegetarian options: Though we are primarily pescatarian, the people dining next to us requested a vegetarian option and the kitchen and staff was wonderfully accommodating. The vegetables in the dishes we ordered were delicious and I loved the “island greens pancake” which was flavorful and added a nice dimension to the entree. A great evening all around!

We had the special of the day Tautog and the Hanger Steak. Both dishes were otherworldly in taste and presentation. The PEI mussels were fresh and plump and soaking in a sauce that with a loaf of bread would be a wonderful meal by its self. Crab Oat Cake was unique and delicious. My only minor negative, which I give to many restaurants, was the room can become so loud that it is hard to have a conversation.
