My wife and I were recently discussing our travels this summer (2024) and the amazing meals we enjoyed. We were in complete agreement that our favorite meal was at Lambert’s Cove Inn during the week of July 4th while on Martha’s Vineyard for the holiday. It was a perfectly lovely experience from our arrival until we departed.
We sat in the garden and highly recommend doing so if you are able. We had an early dinner and ended up having the entire garden to ourselves...which made it very special. The garden is such a beautiful, relaxing space for dining. A cool summer evening listening the Cat Birds fly about. The hustle and bustle of the outside world seemed miles away.
The hospitality was so welcoming...with Bridget checking in with us at different times though out the evening to make sure everything was to our liking.
The meal was perfect! Each course was superbly prepared, spaced, and delicious! Our compliments to Chef Galen.
We cannot say enough about the service. Our server was a delightful young lady (name is escaping me) from Ireland. My wife and I had a wonderful time chatting with her throughout our meal. She was the perfect hostess for a truly wonderful evening.
Lambert’s Cove Inn has our highest recommendation and my wife and I plan to dine with them each time we visit the island.
Cheers!

We ate an anniversary dinner at the Inn, a wonderful four-course meal of oysters, lobster, braised short ribs, and sea bass. Everything was delicious, and we're excited to return. Below is a fuller review of the Inn itself: We had a wonderful time at Lambert's Cove Inn. We stayed one night for our anniversary. Upon arriving to the island, we received two messages from the staff via text. This was wonderful as it allowed us to request early check-in. When we got to the Inn, we were greeted by Galen and Anna. They informed us that we could check in early and gave us a tour of the Inn. The grounds are spectacular. We were very happy to have arrived early as it provided time to take a leisurely walk to the pond, through lush flowers and plans, and near the alpacas. The room was cozy and had a private balcony, which was lovely. The staff had left us a bottle of Prosecco for our anniversary. This little detail was amazing.
Galen and Bridget and their team have done it again! Provided a delicious meal with the extra special touches that make coming back to Woods year after year a must for our family! The warm welcome, the amazing chowder, the best lobster puffs!, delightful salad, main courses cooked to perfection, and delicious desserts. And an amazing catalog of wines from which Bridget can so ably help you make a great choice! Thanks for another great dining experience!
Brilliant. One of the best meals we've had ANYWHERE in the world. Worth a trip to Martha's Vinyard for a meal here.
All in all, the staff and the bottle of wine we ordered were the highlights. The food was disappointing. It was unimaginative, under seasoned (nothing was added), dry (salad was not properly dressed and the risotto was undercooked), and prefixed menu options were underwhelming. For the hype and cost, it was a huge letdown. Maybe it was an off night? We won't be coming back. There are too many other establishments, tried and true, that are closer and less expensive.
We were celebrating our Anniversary with family. Every was great from food, to service and setting. The Woods is not like every other restaurant on the Vineyard. Well worth a visit.
We enjoyed the cuisine greatly! Dining in the garden was a special treat. Our service left a lot to be desired in terms of attentiveness. Other than than, we enjoyed a nice meal in a beautiful environment
This is a definite go-to for us each year during our MV stay. The unique cuisine flavors even overshadow the spectacular presentation. This is, by far, the best restaurant on the island that we have experienced, and we never leave disappointed. Until next time!
Dining at the Lambert Cove Inn in Martha's Vineyard is pure pleasure! Chef Galen Sampson and his wife, Bridget are perfect hosts. Their talents, warmth and hospitality provide a unique and elegant dining experience. Each delicious course is presented exquisitely, perfectly seasoned and the well trained staff are attentive and accommodating. Surrounded by Bridget's lovely gardens and floral arrangements, Galen and Bridge have created a cozy and relaxing dining atmosphere with signature menu options that would be hard to compare! Five stars, for sure! We will be back soon! Mary & Len Seymour

A fabulous meal - or should I say meals, because the four of us all found our choices distinguished by brliliant flavors and lovely presentation. The meal was complemented by a lovely bottle of wine from The Woods cellar, a wine I look for but seldom find. The Woods presents a grat meal in a lovely setting, a combination not easily found anywhere, but particularly on the Vineyard/

We decided to try the Woods for the last dinner of our MV girls trip and it did not disappoint. The restaurant and surrounding gardens at night were absolutely beautiful and the food was delicious. It really fit our tropical/floral themed dinner party well. I was also amazed that we were able to get a same day reservation as I had cancelled our earlier reservation. A big shout out goes to the hostest with the mostest, Ms. Linda who was lovely and took us on a tour of the gardens. The summer fixed price menu was pricey but not bad for the amount of courses received. The food was delicious! The braised short ribs, lobster puffs and the lamb appetizers were big hits, as were the cocktails. The only complaint the party had was that the salads were under dressed and the desserts were good but cold. The taxi drive out there was overpriced ($80 for 6 people) but I don't blame the restaurant for that. All in all a beautiful dinner in a lovely restaurant.
Overall, we're glad we made the trip to Woods but were surprised by the number of kids around the inn and restaurant. The food was good but not great and if there is a set menu it should be great. We didn't love that the only menu choice is via a prix fixe menu, but this is probably great for parents of younger kids who want to enjoy a nicer dinner out. The service was great and the setting is worth checking out.
The inn restaurant “woods” is quite nice. We were (4) and dined in the garden. The setting was beautiful. The menu which is price fixed (4) course is varied however heavily skewed to unusual spices. We all found the food Delicious but be aware some may not find a lot of choices to eat. The only issue was the undercooking/raw swordfish that came out 2X undercooked. The chef sent out his apologies and it was removed from the bill but one of us had no real main course. The recooking took such a long time it was a shame the fish couldn't be enjoyed. We all would go again, but be very specific regarding the temperature of the main course.
The meal was delicious. Service was attentive without being overbearing. The duck and the sea bass were cooked perfectly. The salads were light and refreshing with delicious cheeses. And sitting outside by the beautiful garden under the fairy lights is magical!!!
