I recently moved out of the Berkshires and I miss Spice Root so much! The food is always delicious, fresh, and high quality. The restaurant is clean and service is friendly and helpful. If you're unfamiliar, I highly recommend you visit and support this wonderful local business.
I have been to Indian restaurants around the world, from Bangalore to New York City. I never expected to find my favorite one in the heart of the Berkshires, in Williamstown. The food—the coconut chicken curry in particular—was delicious, flavored with the perfect proportion of oil and spice; I ate here for two months straight as a visiting student at Williams College and am pleased to say that the dish quality was consistent and excellent every time. We remembered having a really good lunch here many years ago when we were in the area. So we decided to stop in again for lunch when we were back in the area recently. It did not disappoint. The papadum are great. The chicken tikka masala is super tasty. I really appreciate it the option to add veggies to it, the potato particularly was surprisingly delicious. The mango lassi was also really tasty. Great service and reasonably priced. Highly recommend.
