If only the smell could tell - it would tell a story of authentic taste a flavor found either in China Towns or in China.
Enjoyed Chicken lo mein, Fried rice with Shrimp, and Hot & Sour soup. Lo mein was full of flavor not dry, Fried rice was not too sticky with plenty of small shrimps. Hot & Sour soup was great as well.
Try it, worth a trip.
Staff is often rude. Our food got mixed up multiple times, had to wait 15 mins to order. Chicken was probably from yesterday.
Atmosphere is great but I would not recommend going here.

Amazing cocktails and food! Their drink menu is amazing, they're tiki experts. Here is a trader vics Mai Tai and a three dots and a dash. The halo halo was amazing too.

I’ve supported Sichuan Garden for years. The gentleman who often helps me is a class act — respectful, professional, and warm. Unfortunately, the hostess on this particular night made it abundantly clear that not every guest is treated equally.
I came in alone for dinner and was told there were no tables and I’d have to wait an hour — on a Wednesday night. That’s never been the case. But I left without complaint and placed a takeout order.
When I returned just 15 minutes later, I watched two women walk in after me and get seated immediately. I calmly asked the hostess what happened — and that’s when the excuses began.
First, she claimed she thought I was part of a party of five. Then, realizing how weak that sounded, she changed her story and said there was a party of five who no longer needed the table. So… which lie is the truth?
Let’s be real: this wasn’t a mix-up. This was dismissal.
Worse than the excuses was how she handled it. I stood there, clearly trying to speak with her. She knew I wanted to talk — and made the choice to ignore me. Not once. Not twice. It wasn’t until the kind male server flagged her down that she finally acknowledged me. And how did she greet me?
“What’s up?”
That’s not customer service — that’s contempt dressed up as casual.
I asked, calmly, why I had been passed over. Her response? She rolled her eyes, muttered “There’s no drama,” and walked away from me while I was still speaking. That wasn’t miscommunication. That was intentional.
She made it clear with every gesture, every dismissive glance, and every fake excuse that I wasn’t worth her time. That who I am didn’t matter. That my presence was inconvenient.
And let’s not pretend this was just a “bad night” or “a misunderstanding.” It’s always telling when someone puts more energy into deflecting blame than simply doing the right thing. Her actions spoke louder than anything she said — and what they said was: you don’t belong here.
This wasn’t just about a table. This was about dignity.
And she made sure I left without any.
If management is paying attention — the issue isn’t your food, it’s the face you’ve chosen to put at the front of your business. And if she’s reading this: the next time you feel the need to say “there’s no drama,” maybe ask yourself why someone would feel there is.
Because when you treat someone like they’re invisible, that is the drama.
Do better.

Dinner was okay, cumin fish was salty , but the server was a bit grumpy. And the most disgusting part was rats were roaming around while we were having dinner tonight! Sichuan Garden needs to do something about the rat problem right away. It’s not only gross, but it’s also concerning about the hygiene in the kitchen.

The chicken dish I ordered had a very strange aftertaste. Couldn’t eat any of it. Very overpriced as well. I would recommend going for the cocktails and not for the food.
It has whole Peking duck for $88. Pretty authentic Chinese food.
I had a server who seemed to be really up on what was actually possible to be made vegan. I was told the spring rolls and lo mein mentioned in the other review have eggs. I had hot tiger peppers and General Tso’s tofu. Both were good, but I won’t be going back anytime soon as it wasn’t better than closer options to me. Google reviews about the older house being a bit friendly to mice were correct. As it got quieter, we saw one running around in the other room. Updated from previous review on 2025-05-18

Absolutely love this place! I always go with a larger group and get a bunch of items to share.
The Sichuan chicken wings and cucumber salad are absolute must gets, I crave these on the regular. I have never had a bad dish here and the ambience is incredible. Highly recommend the upstairs bar area or the tiki first floor area, but the whole place is great.
The cocktails are outstanding and if you are a pair, the cocktails for two are visually stunning and amazing. The cocktail program here beats any other program in Boston by a landslide.
Don’t visit until management changes! Snooty manager opened late with severe attitude. She was taking her bad day out on everyone, eliminated cocktail options, & threatened to spit in customer food when approached about her terrible attitude. I’ll never go back!
Drove there from the south shore of MA to meet friends from NH. I had been there 2x years ago & was excited to return & introduce our friends to a great dining and drink experience. What a complete disappointment. I was literally embarrassed to have chosen this restaurant to show our friends. The manager was beyond rude and unapologetic for opening 15 minutes late. The bar was closed and we were told we could only have beer, wine or Mai Tai’s.
This is after we bragged about the amazing creative drinks at this place to our NH friends. 4 customers lost! We will never return.
Best authentic Sichuan food in Boston area
Had been a tradition to take the kids when mom flies out of town. Kids were so pumped. Unfortunately they can’t accommodate a party of 5 on a Sunday at 5pm because they only have a limited space open. Apparently they now hate making money here.
