Don’t come here expecting to get sweet and sour chicken… but you can get an amazing cumin beef, braised pork belly, and steamed buns! We loved everything we tried. This is authentic food and worth a visit.

Very authentic Chinese cuisine. If you are a big fan of spicy food, I would definitely recommend. The flavor is one of the best in Boston area, with large portions and reasonable price. The lady who served us was also nice and attentive.

We held a private event at Spicy Hunan Kitchen for about 60 guests and had a phenomenal experience. Shirley and her team are incredible - they are professional, responsive, thoughtful, and so wonderful to work with. The food was amazing, the service was attentive, and the entire planning process was so smooth and easy thanks to Shirley and her team. They worked with us to make sure there were vegetarian options and gluten-free options for our guests, and exceeded our every expectation. We can't wait to come back to eat more of the incredible food and would recommend Spicy Hunan Kitchen to all!

Food is OK. The fish wasn’t at a good quality(it’s kind of mushy texture) and two tiny eggrolls for eight bucks is just wild.

Great food with reasonable price. I love spicy food and hunan spicy especially as Im not a big fan of peppercorns (sichuan spicy). The service is great. Staff are very friendly with speedy response. The dining area is big so we dont feel too crowded. There is a great menu that kids can enjoy as well (my kids love the chicken wings in appetizer). I'll try to take and upload picture the next time we are here.

We dined in, the food was OK except for one dish that is not fresh. We tried one bite and asked the waitress over to change for another one because it felt like it was thawed after being kept in the freezer for a long time. They refused to accept our opinion and suggestions saying that a lot of people ordered this dish and nobody complained. There were only two group of people having dinner at that time including us. No wonder. It’s so deserted even on holiday night. they charged compulsory 18% tips minimum but we didn’t want to argue with them because we didn’t want to ruin the holiday night.

Having been to China multiple times and even Hunan specifically, I can say that this was the most authentic Chinese cuisine I have found in the US. I cannot recommend it highly enough. Even my Hunanese mother in law agrees!

Hunan is known for their spicy food, but it is a different kind of spicy than the "numbing spice" of Sichuan cuisine. I personally think it just tastes better. My kids have zero tolerance of spice, though, and they very much enjoyed the non spicy food as well.

I also really enjoyed the atmosphere and service. The staff was friendly, even if busy.

When we go, we always at least get the "Spicy jelly noodle" and the "Stir fry pork with green pepper." We also get a full fish, which is scooped fresh from the tank.

Try it. You will not regret it.

Kid-friendliness: Very kid friendly

Look it's pretty simple. It's a highly authentic Hunan restaurant, in a area where it's hard to come by any actually good Chinese cuisine, especially if you want non-Sichuan food. You can tell the effort they put into this place to make it open for all, and especially the work that goes into each dish. The best Chinese restaurants can often develop a reputation for slinging quick stir fry and haphazard service, but here they strike a great balance of really exceptional food and service. My one issue: I think for the price, they don't give you enough white rice. For 3 dollars, it should be unlimited per person, or a little cheaper per bowl.

But make no mistake, this is real Chinese restaurant for Chinese palates- that means the best pork intestines you can get, really fun textures with their meat dishes, and spicy, acidic, and other unique flavorings to every dish. It's an outstanding addition to the area and I'm pleased to have it around.
