Tembo Grill is so good! We stopped in on a cold day for lunch, having never tried Kenyan food before. We ordered goat and chicken stews, with seasoned rice, coconut rice, vegetables and greens. We also got samosas. Everything was delicious! The meats were tender and flavorful, the sauces were perfect. The samosas were so good we wished we weren’t so full! The people who work there were also very friendly and professional. Highly recommend!

I had the goat stew and the pilau rice, the blend of flavors was so fantastic and the goat was stewed to the perfect texture. The mural inside is also gorgeous and service was very courteous. I’ll definitely be back soon!

This simple and unaffected dining space belies the delicious food served. We enjoyed the crispy fresh samosas, which were delicious and only a little spicy, sausages, fresh chapati, goat and beef stews, greens and both spiced rice and coconut rice. The greens in particular were excellent, finely chopped and robustly flavored, while the meats were tender and the sauces were rich and savory. We wanted to be try the fish dishes, but they had prepared a huge catering order and had run out. I think we'll likely be back to try those as well.

This is truly a hidden gem. The food is exotic and exquisite. They have a wide variety of East African foods on offer. Try the samosas and the sausages. You'll thank me later.

Penny (the owner) has created a lovely restaurant with a very warm and welcoming atmosphere and very delicious food! We had a great meal last week. The samosas and the chapatis are amazing! The beef stew, sukuma wiki (collard greens) and the pilau are so incredibly tasty as well. Can't wait to be back at Tembo Grill! Thanks, Penny!

My first time eating Kenyan food and it will not be my last. The food was all delicious. We got tilapia with coconut sauce and plantains, grilled vegetables, collard greens, samosas, seasoned rice and curry chicken. Super-mega-highly recommend.

My fiance and I loved this place, and the owner was so sweet, and explained the different types of food, and ingredients, to us. A friend had recommended it highly, and I'd read about its opening and ribbon-cutting ceremony. We chose my birthday to try it out, and they made it a lovely birthday! Highly recommended. I loved my grilled salmon, and my fiance loved the beef stew dish with a side that was similar to mashed potatoes - with peas - and naan bread.

I always try local places when I travel, particular ones that I don’t have at home. I can’t say I’ve had Kenyan food before, but this was great! I had goat stew and the spiced tea. Great flavors and staff was very friendly.
