Cozy chill cafe for a coffee and something sweet. It’s been here in this multiple times and had a great time catching up with friends!

Overpriced and overrated. Owner is a miser who cuts corners for money, like the time they had a roach infestation and kept the store open anyway so they wouldn’t lose money. Horribly unsanitary. There are so many better places to get coffee and pastries. Don’t waste your money here.

To the girl working Wednesday evening: if you hate your job that much, maybe don’t take it out on customers. I came in well before closing, and you sighed loudly and said you “can’t serve anything.” Seriously? The store wasn’t even closed yet.
If I wanted attitude with my coffee, I’d stay home. This place clearly doesn’t care about basic customer service. Never coming back.

The coffee was very good, a little cool. The brownie was very chocolaty 🍫, too much for my taste. Everything cakes and muffins etc. looked great. I am sure they are very tasty.

No prices for the cakes and sweet treats. I agree with other reviewers, quite pricey. The coffee was good value, the sweet treats are a little more expensive.

I wanted to try this place. Coffee ☕️ definitely recommend.

Walked in at 6:58 to grab something quick and there were other customers in the store at the time and the door wasn’t locked but we walked in and the girl says sorry we’re closed..You were actually open for 2 more minutes and why not take the sale

Went into the bakery Saturday night, there were customers inside being waited on and as we got through the door the woman behind the
Counter said “we are closed” so we turned around and walked out, we looked at the time and it was 6:59 and they close at 7:00
And the cases were full. Idk why she couldn’t just wait on us too.

Very pleasant atmosphere and quality products. I tried a very good brownie and hot chocolate, but the service was AWFUL. I was visiting the city and was expecting to just grab a table for coffee and dessert and leave, but without even saying “good afternoon” the attendant served me with to-go packages (there were still 2 hours left until closing according to a sign on the door and she confirmed it when I asked). I understand how tiring some work shifts are, but she started lifting chairs and sweeping the room while I was still eating my meal there. Manager, train your employees and your cafe will take off.

I've been here a few times over the last few years and won't be going back. The staff is super nice, but it's the product that's lacking. The frosting on everything is greasy and flavorless (except for sugar and the chemical taste of food coloring). I don't know if there is any butter in it, as it tastes mostly like Crisco and chemicals. For these prices, the frosting should be all butter--the shortening ruins the flavor of the whole item. I'm wondering if the cookies, cakes and muffins are also part (or all?) shortening, as they don't have much flavor either. Also some of their pastries that should be flaky, with lamination like in a croissant, are more like dense shortbread--very weird. The raspberry and cinnamon twists are heavy, hard, and dry, and the total opposite to every other twist I've had--they should be buttery, soft, and flaky. Whoever decorates everything is very talented because it all looks scrumptious, but the flavors/ingredients don't live up to it. So disappointing!

I've been to the bean counter a few times, but won't return. The coffee is good, but not cheap. Their breakfast sandwiches are ok, but they are ridiculously expensive for the quantity of food (the bacon is like two strips of precooked oscar meyer bacon). Go to Birchtree Bread, their sandwiches are phenomenal and are reasonably price for the amount of quality of the food. Seriously, they aren't even comparable.

The location off of grove street has so many delicious vegan options and a few gluten free vegan options. I tried the chocolate raspberry gluten free vegan cupcake and it was so amazing! Moist and flavorful!! I highly recommend 💜💜💜

We go here every year to get authentic swedish coffee bread loaves and rings. Their recipes came from Crown Bakery a long standing swedish bakery nearby in Worcester. Gluten free pastries also. They also make incredible wedding cakes.

The Bean Counter is a cute local bakery on Grove Street in Worcester. Close to Lincoln Square. Tip: if you order ahead, this bakery has the local legendary jelly rolls from Crown Bakery. Yummy!!
