I am reviewing the Bean Counter Bakery Cafe on Highland Street in Worcester which I can't find on here for some reason - only this Grove location comes up. I googled cool coffee shops before I arrived in Worcester because I wanted somewhere fun to hang out. This cafe had a large selection of great-looking baked goods and a large menu of drinks. It was a sparse space with bare walls and tables. Streamlined and cold. I waited in line to place an order and a woman wound up going ahead of me but I waited silently and patiently. There was a second employee who was sweeping in the back who came out to take my order. I asked her about a certain drink on the menu and then I ordered. They weren't closing for over two more hours yet she had such an attitude when I politely ordered. I don't get it. She was really unpleasant.

We have loved all of their pastry items for years and it's our go-to destination for special occasion cakes! Always moist and flavorful. If you're a Chocoholic their cakes and cupcakes are heaven but we discovered their lemon cake/cupcakes too and they're scrumptious!!

I googled bakeries in Worcester, I picked the first on the list and I’m glad. The cupcakes taste great, they had a nice selection of flavors which are all listed on their website, and I’m glad they had some decorated for Easter. I will say I would’ve liked the raspberry cupcake more without the filling. Their staff was so great and friendly, even with how busy it got. I’d go back for sure

It's a little dessert haven. I walked in on a Friday afternoon just after 4PM. The clean white walls and the smell of fresh coffee still lingered. At the entrance and around the corner from the counter, there's a hidden seating area with tables lined up. Behind the glass, they have different croissants, crumbs and cupcakes. I got the cannoli cupcake and a raspberry crumb to go. The server at the register was so helpful and patient as I made my selection. The ingredients in both desserts were fresh, especially the cream on the cupcake and the raspberry in the crumb. They weren't too sweet either! The only downside was that although they were considerably sized, most options were made from plain vanilla and chocolate as the base with the regular dessert toppings so there wasn't much of a difference in the flavor options. Also the cupcake was slightly overpriced at around $6, considering it was more cream than cake. Nonetheless, I'll definitely visit again and hopefully try the award winning coffee!

I am drawn to the quality of the bakery products. It is well made and from scratch. Ingredients are of the highest sources. So many favorites and one top favorite is the gluten free pecan nut bar. Also love the chocolate mousse bombe. They use high quality chocolate from Callebaut (I asked)! Love their 49th Parallell coffee as well!!

After 7 months of weekly visits, I may as well finally write a review.... Long story short, highly recommend for food, drinks, and as a chill place to study or work. You won't regret it.I hang out here for the couple of hours I have between clocking out of work and my biweekly PT appointments at Bay State. Simply put, there is no other place in the city I'd prefer to chill out and study for class. The employees are always wonderful. They keep the place crazy clean. They put up with my indecisiveness literally every visit, despite the fact that I know 80% of their offerings by heart. The place is never very noisy, and other patrons respect the need for a chill spot to whip out a laptop/tablet and get some work done. In fact, a lot of other folks I see here also sit for 2 or 3 hours on their computers while nibbling a lil treat and sipping a latte. The food and treats are ALWAYS delicious and satisfying. Holiday-themed stuff is impeccable, top-tier "viral Instagram content" every time. I don't even want to eat them!!My staples are any variety of bagel with extra chive cream cheese & a sweet treat - a Brownie or "Not Your Grandma's" choco chip cookie usually. Their mochas are GREAT - although I recommend asking for double the flavor pumps on whichever you order, if you've got a big sweet tooth.I've been there while the owner is setting up social media photos of some gorgeous custom cakes as well - totally in envy of whoever had the $$ to order them!! ?Dietary restrictions: A whole case of individually-wrapped, gluten-free treats. Oat/almond/soy milk for drinks. A few rotation vegan options daily.Parking: If the spot in the front are full, there's also some spots to the right. Only one handicap spot.Kid-friendliness: Just make sure they respect the chill atmosphere!Wheelchair accessibility: Accessible parking spot & clear ADA compliance through the shop.

Smoothies are no good. Not fresh. Got food poisoning from it. Their coffee is the worst around. Never going there again.
