During my time at Clark University as a salvadoreño born and raised in Worcester I was excited at the idea of a new Salvadoran business opening up in my community. Belen’s cafe was on my route to class while I was in college so I’d stop by often at one point.

The food has always been mediocre in my opinion and just felt like a gentrified version of Salvadoran food(which would be convenient next to a PWI..) it never felt truly authentic.
I’ve asked other Salvadoran’s in the area on their opinion of Belen’s and many of them feel similar ways that their food doesn’t really feel authentic nor representative.

At one point I remember seeing some string bracelets from our country being sold for $7 which was funny because they cost $0.50-$1.00. Profiting like crazy was baffling considering they’re light weighted bracelets so importing them isn't a problem.

For general cafe needs, I’m sure this isn’t a bad spot… I mean how could you mess up coffee?
However, for it being a “Salvadoran cafe” it’s mediocre and not representative. I guess this is as close as it’s going to get in the Main South area of Worcester.

I had one of the best hot matcha latte! Doesn’t have the fake matcha after taste. Perfectly sweet and balanced.

A very nice cafe. The food is good, though nothing too special, but the drinks are excellent. I'd especially recommend the horchata chai.

By far the best BEC on a croissant that I’ve ever had.

These cookies were absolutely amazing! Perfectly soft in the center with just the right amount of chew. The chocolate chip ones were loaded with chips, and the macadamias are best I had in a very long time. They arrived fresh and beautifully packaged. Will definitely order again!

Love Belen! Everyone there is always so nice. They have the cutest desserts, and the BLTs are to die for. I always find myself coming back for another coffee.
