I have health issues which make a bacon, egg and cheese sandwich on a grilled bagel with butter a rare treat for me. I told the young cook I wanted bacon on my sandwich. It was called out when ready as sausage, egg and cheese. My companion heard it and said she believed they got it wrong--that I asked for bacon. (I was outside in the parking lot.) The staff contradicted her and my companion couldn't find me to confirm. When I got home with what I thought was going to be a special treat and cheat for me on my restricted diet, I discovered that it was sausage. And the sausage was not even browned. Nor was the grilled bagel. It was greasy and had no toasted color to it at all. I know how to grill a bagel. I do it at home in a saute pan on rare occasions.
It seemed busy in the shop but there were 4 people there waiting on customers. I was told one of them was in training. That's more than enough staff to handle a few sandwiches and make them correctly.
The bagel, though not properly grilled was good and chewy as a bagel should be. Unfortunate that my first experience there turned out poorly. My companion says the coffee was good but her sandwich was squashed flat under mine in the same bag. It was bacon, egg and cheese on a croissant. They should have been bagged separately or boxed.
I may try the shop again making certain to be very explicit when I order and I'll be sure to check my sandwich before I leave.
Prices are reasonable and the sandwich was a generous size.
How to grill a bagel so that the top stays soft but the cut side turns out beautifully browned and crisp:
Put butter (preferable) or margarine on the cut side of the bagel halves and place in a medium heated saute/fry pan. Place a weight on the bagels so that the uneven surfaces make good contact with the pan. I use a 6 quart stock/pasta pot or other pot large enough to apply pressure to the number of bagels you have in the pan. First fill the pot perhaps 1/3 full with hot water to give it weight and to not chill the bagels on top. Do not overfill the pot or your bagels will be squashed flat. Check your bagels after a couple minutes. They are done when browned to your satisfaction. You can buy a weight with a handle made for this purpose if you grill bagels often.

Sad to say, but i'm done with this place.
I’ve been coming to Donut Express for over 10 years, and I won’t be back. The food quality has gone way down—my last bacon, egg, and cheese had one slice of bacon, and the homemade touch is completely gone.
Worse, the older white woman at the window is consistently rude, dismissive, and unprofessional. She talks over customers, makes snide remarks, and treats people like an inconvenience. It's unacceptable, and it’s driving loyal customers away.
The younger staff are great, but one person’s attitude has cast a dark cloud over what used to be a great neighborhood spot. The young girls have exceptional employability skills and should maybe train the lady who is well beyond their years.... she should know better. Extremely disappointed.

One of the best local shops I've had the pleasure... still a large size donut (not down sized) and a simple but tasty menu... GREAT COFFEE !!!! (I've noticed the ONE bad review is from somone who doesn't like any of the places s/he visits !!!)... otherwise, review is a solide 5* !!! And they donate to a local Veteran's group, Project New Hope, for their coffee social event... love this place...

Donut Express has Exceptional Donuts in a real local coffee donut shop. No cooperate flash or hype just good food decent prices, lovely staff and friendly customers.
It's sad.
When people are that miserable in life!!! good luck going there.
This is a great local breakfast spot. The young ladies are beautiful, professional, and polite. The food uses real ingredients and tastes like home. Donuts are bigger than dunks etc. There's a big menu. Prices are great. The croissant, egg, bacon and cheese is my favorite. They even have a drive-through and a modest sitting area inside. I can't say enough good about Donuts express❤️
Donuts here are awesome, they do however need an espresso machine....badly
The best donuts and BECs around!! And the staff is wonderful!!! Worcester hidden gem!
Kid-friendliness: Only a few tables and counter seating inside but the staff are fabulous to kids.

I just ordered a hot regular coffee with sugar, it tasted bitter, the girl stirs it with the spoon to sweeten the coffee, train your staff.
