Best place for sandwiches on this side of the city 😍👍

Awesome place to get a sandwich and soup. Every thing is fresh. Sad to say, next Friday May 10, 2019 will be their last day as they are closing the place for good. I admit that I haven't been there in years (I only take 10 minutes for lunch at my desk), I used to go there every day for lunch as I work around the corner from them.

This is one of the best sandwich shops in Worcester. Everyday they have a daily special along with a soup of the day. Try their chicken cutlet on a Tuesday or Wednesday. Either with sauce and cheese or lettuce, onions, tomatoes, pickles and mayo. Give there sausage and cabbage soup a try. It's amazing.

Giant portions of homemade cooking for a reasonable price. Staff are absolutely amazing. All family members. Some items are better than others in my opinion. Everybody has their own preferences. I highly recommend the chicken cutlet either as a cutlet built to your specifications or as a chicken parm, I prefer the chicken parm. The meatball sub is very good also. I recommend trying the daily specials, they seem to be a hit with the locals. In my opinion the cold cut meat should be sliced thinner than it is. The thick pieces combined with the large amount they provide makes it difficult to chew depending on the meats you have in your sandwich.

Incredible Italian eats in an up and coming neighborhood. These ladies serve us some of the finest eats in the City. The prices are terrific for the quality of the food. Try the sausage, meatball and penne for a satisfying lunch. Served with fresh italian bread and butter. The salads are fresh - everything is fresh and served up with a smile. Keep up the great work ladies!

Make sure to bring cash or you'll be looking for an ATM. I got Big John's Italian and a meatball sandwich both on Italian loaf. The bread was fresh, soft, and delicious on both. The Italian meats were fresh and delicious. Simple delicious, fresh, food sums it up. I'm guessing Big John was out back making all of the sandwiches cuz I didn't see him.

This is a sandwich shop from long ago. This is typical of some long running establishments that people frequent because they grew up in the neighborhood and have food memories and are loyal for decades and decades. That is a great thing to have. But the customer base dies off and the neighborhood changes, and everyone wonders why the place isn't doing so well anymore. A review somewhere said the place was dated. Well, yea, it's dated, but it's CLEAN! The prices will not break the bank. But, I am not sure I would crave the sandwich I had and yearn to go back there. They make it clear that the meatballs and sausage are scratch made. That's a huge plus. But if you are going to go through all that trouble to make your items from scratch, then add some flavor. There was a serious lack of seasoning and I don't mean salt. In the sauce and meatballs on my husband's meatball sandwich, and even on my grinder, we would have appreciated some parsley, garlic, oregano, basil, red pepper flakes, anything to blend the taste and make it stand out. The bread might have been a little too old, but the cold cuts were just run of the mill. Nothing stood out, like a hot capicola, or a great Mortadella. It was also the second day of a heat wave, and the dining area has no open windows or air conditioning. The ceiling fans weren't even on. It was not a pleasant experience, but you can take your sandwich to go. I really would like to see this place get a makeover on the food, and see someone generate excitement about John's & Son's, like a better effort on social media or a website. It would be so easy to embrace the fact that it's 30 plus years old and make it a true throw back with some pictures from a different era, some pics of when they opened, etc. And some ventilation to make the dining room a little more inviting.
