Love love love red pepper. No frills hole in the wall spot with incredible authentic food and large portions. They do a discount if you pay in cash!! It’s our go to spot. Must try the cumin lamb!!
I have been a regular customer for many years but am not sure if they changed a new chef or used premade dishes now. Somehow some of the traditional dishes were cooked in a new way that’s less authentic and taste very differently. Especially I can’t tell the difference of a beef dish and a pork dish, which were cooked almost the same way and taste the same. Meanwhile, there are less usage of vegetables in a dish than before, while the meat were marinated with too much starches. In general the cooking is less authentic and not that good now.

Probably the worst Pork Lo Mein I've ever had in my life it was gelatinous and Gray and the pork didn't even look cooked, duck sauce was very odd as well and also tried to charge me $10 for a big container of duck sauce

Delicious sichuan cuisine, filling portion sizes and really fast service. Favorites are the beef & tendon appetizer, cold noodles in chili sweet & sour sauce, mapo tofu, double cooked bacon and the dry chili dishes. The fish with pickled mustard green soup was the perfect balance of sour amd savory. Can't go wrong with anything on the house special section. Spice level is very manageable (could be spicier if you have a decent spice tolerance). It's also BYOB

Excellent food, portion sizes and service!
The restaurant came recommended from friends, and it didn't disappoint. There is a huge variety of authentic Chinese dishes, and everything we had was very good. Service was a bit slow, but we were there during a slower time when staffing was lower.
Review based on initial visit for lunch. Ordered off the lunch special menu — General Tso’s chicken with hot and sour soup, steamed rice. Lunch is served with a pot of hot tea. Food was well prepared, tasty and good portion size. The hot and sour soup was really spicy — I like it; but some might opt for the (no red pepper) egg drop or won ton soup. I never order fried rice on a first visit — try the steamed rice: if this is of decent quality and well prepared, the restaurant’s food is likely to get a 4 or better rating. Physically handicapped accessible from parking lot — ramp at side entrance. Street entrance has a step. I’ve tried several Chinese restaurants in Worcester and this is the best one so far, and the only one offering a range of Szechuan dishes. 12/16/24 - raising my food rating to a 5. For Worcester, best Szechuan I have had in the city. 06/15/25 - Father’s Day lunch —- great food! I brought my own bag of puerh tea to enjoy with the meal.
PS — the food is so good here that my wish would be that they offer both green and ripe puerh, lightly smoked lapsang souchong, and several varieties of oolong to pair with various dishes.

The serviced sucked. We will never go back

We've been their customer since they started in Framingham. They do server very authentic Chongqing cuisine which some of the specialty dishes are not available in other Sichuan restaurants. That's the main reason we come here. So if you come here for American Chinese food or lunch combo, you may find those to be not as good as a takeout restaurant. :)
Great good, great price, didn't have to wait too long for the dishes to be served.
Wanted to love it. Unfortunately, we ordered takeout, and the order was incorrect. Instead of pork, we got Jell-O like tofu with a slippery consistency in a brown sauce. Wonton soup was OK, but lacking in flavor. Would not recommend.
I wish I took photos! The spicy wontons … amazing. The dumplings, wonderful. The rice/ noodles, good flavor, but I wish they would devein the shrimp to make the dishes more appetizing, something about shrimp poo just isn’t appealing. But everything we had was tasty! Definitely would go back. The General Tso Chicken and Shrimp were both delicious. The Beef fried rice was tasty. The spicy wontons though were the highlight! Would go back just for those alone.
OK so red pepper has been my favorite take out restaurant for years, but this Saturday, unfortunately, they missed the boat. The cumin lamb and eggplant were good as always, but the beef with ginger and scallions was mediocre and the kung pao chicken was just vile. Breaded chicken with peanuts is an insult to what is IMO one of the greatest dishes (go to Mountain House in Allston). I had serious stomach cramps yesterday and all night last night, no doubt due to the food. We'll come back again since it's been superb over the years, but won't tolerate more misses like this. Step it back up Red Pepper!
