Stopped into Forbidden Flavours on 18th Street hoping for a solid matcha latte. My family and I love a good matcha — especially since these guys are known for their coffee, we figured they’d know what they’re doing. Well… they don’t.
What we got was scalding hot green sugar milk. Whatever matcha once existed in that cup died a fiery death somewhere around 90°C. All that remained was syrup and soy milk so sweet it could power a kindergarten birthday party. Honestly, it tasted like a cup of warm regret.
To be fair, the staff were friendly and the cookies were okay — not enough to save the experience, but at least we didn’t leave completely empty-handed.
If anyone from management reads this, please — for the love of tea and all things caffeinated — learn how to make a matcha latte. It’s not supposed to boil, it’s supposed to soothe. Right now, your matcha game is as forbidden as your name suggests.

I almost never leave reviews, but this place pushed me to it. I’ve worked plenty of customer service jobs, so I know the difference between a busy shift and a broken system. After five or six visits, it’s clear the issue here isn’t the staff — it’s whoever’s running the place.
Every employee I’ve encountered, no matter their age, has seemed miserable, disengaged, or outright rude. The last time I went, I waited at the counter while three employees milled around and no one took orders and the line grew out the door. When someone finally did, they rolled their eyes at me. The coffee was burnt again.
If every single worker seems unhappy and the product is consistently bad, that’s not coincidence - that’s bad leadership. Whatever’s happening behind the scenes clearly isn’t working, and it shows in every cup.

The place looks amazing but I've been here FOUR times and each time my drink has tasted terrible. The service is not only slow but RUDE. This last time (my last time EVER coming here) the Barista rolled her eyes at me while ordering AND with 4x hot drinks ignored my request twice for a tray before finally giving me one

My favorite place for fresh coffee beans! I'll often pick up a few bags and see the roast date is either that same day or a few days before. Love it!
I have been a long time customer to forbidden flavors often spending a fair bit per visit aswell as I have brought roughly 30 people to their business as customers in my travels. Often times makin trips from winnipeg to brandon as a Saturday trip just to go to forbidden flavors.
But my last visit the manager and her Co worker were hanging out in the parking lot and they watched me try and park my truck out of the way at the entrance bc parking lot is small they weren't overly busy.
But the reason I will not be returning to my once favorite business in brandon bc instead of being reasonable grown adults and telling me they weren't happy with me trying to not have my work truck hit in there parking lot again, they sent an angry email to my employer sayin I was actively trying to harm their business while also trying to make my employer look bad.
Very unprofessional and petty childish behavior considering they watched me park then walk into their business where I spent 200 dollars on coffee beans aswell as some treats bc to retreat to my hotel after working a long day receiving very sad news about a dear friend

Everything here is so delicious! If you are in a hurry there is a drive thru and if you want to have a peaceful time and enjoy life the ambience inside is just gorgeous. Staff is friendly and attentive, there is a summer menu that you can see right at the entrance, there is ice cream too and the cutest baby size ice cream cone! Definitely 10/10
