It was lots of fun eating here. A throw back to the old train days when everyone crossed the country by rail and stayed at hotels like this and ate st the restaurant. The train doesn't stop here anymore, but the station is still standing across the street. We had the roast beef dinner (which was a bit dry) and the classic burger with onion rings. The bun for the burger was a bit small but the patty was homemade and perfectly made. The onion rings were excellent- the kind you can bite through without pulling through the entire onion out.
Our server was very attentive and quick. A great place to visit in the old, historic part of Virden.

For a small town, as expected, as very dark dimly lit, quiet bar. Food was mediocre, but given the lack of Guests, can understand, keeping it simple. Beers priced fairly, and ice cold !
Off Sales available at this location. Which made dinner and liquor store stop, all in one !

Patty melt had too many onions. Will just ask for less next time. Home fries are super good. They often have roast beef or turkey dinner for supper. Server was friendly cook is back! Great place to eat.

Placed my order, burger and fries. Waited for 45 minutes and asked how much long. Cook screamed from kitchen she didn’t have my order. So left.

When traveling we prefer to support locally owned and try and avoid our money going to internationally owned chains. This restaurant has homemade features that are tasty and well worth the extra few block drive off the main drag. My burger was very tasty and tender, a homemade patty.
There is also a wonderful coffee shop across the street for that ‘to go’ coffee and maybe dessert to continue your travels.
