Got stranded in town and these folks were so incredibly friendly and the food was delightful. Overall a worthwhile place to stop at, with few negatives.
Chairs are a bit hard to sit on for extended periods of time but I don't imagine they're meant for long term chilling so that's on me. I sat at a table with a black glass top, which isn't necessarily good for keeping a clean appearance but it was the only table of its type. The space overall was open, with good natural light which I believe is best for a cafe.
Service was polite and helpful. I had no experience with the location previously and probably came off as somewhat nervous, but I felt no judgment and was helped whenever I needed it. The place seemed somewhat understaffed, but the employees seem to be keeping up with the relative hustle. At no point was I the only individual in the sitting area, and people picking up drinks was frequent.
Eating wise, I'm not a coffee drinker and so my ability to comment on a cafe is limited given they are usually focused on caffeine beverages. However the food I did order was fresh and at the perfect temperature to stop me from eating it immediately, giving me time to properly admire it. It was a breakfast sandwich, and smelled absolutely incredible. It's taste was good and satisfactory, but more importantly it had mass. For a cafe, you don't expect your food to have solid weight, but this breakfast sandwich did. Good heft is important enough to me that I'd have given this location five stars regardless of the other factors.
To my limited knowledge this place is entirely locally owned. By that standard, I think MJ's is an establishment worthy of a spare 10$ and some time spent adjusting yourself on the chair. Next time I'm in Virden, MJ's will be among my first considerations when looking for something to do.

Sandwiches lack taste.
Coffee is not worth coming back for (had black coffe).
Service is lacking the friendliness that wants you to come back and feel welcomed. There was also a sandwich missing in our order, wouldn't be a big deal, customer service oriented business owner would apologize for missing it and try to fix it to satisfy the customer. But she just came to our table proving to us that it wasn't on the receipt (obvious because they missed it).

I didn't know this was in Burden, but I searched for coffee shops near me and lucked out. It's a little hard to find, but I'm going to remember it when I'm in town and want a coffee.

Fantastic authentic Mennonite food. Your cardiac surgeon may shake their head but you can feel the love (fat/sugar) in the food. We went with a local friend on a random Tuesday for lunch, and not busy at all. Although locals say it’s tough to get a seat on a Friday at noon.Highly recommend

Food is fresh, good quality and ample. Coffees are wonderful, and dessert saskatoon rhubarb pie was delectable. Staff was so nice to us as we got there just after 2 when their lunch closed but they made a special effort for us because we had already travelled from Regina.
