All the food could of use more salt. Very basic dishes that you can cook at home. Cocktails are great though. Very basic spices

Food was pretty great. The pasta was my favourite and had tons of flavour which was definitely appreciated. I wanted to try their signature pizza, and it was an interesting taste. It wasn’t bad but it wasn’t my favourite either. I still liked it for the fact that it was cooked under the fire and the crust was lightly brushed with oil which gave it its own flavour.
Next time, I’ll probably try white sauce pasta and red sauce pizza.
The steak was cooked medium rare, but the flavour wasn’t anything out of this world and it could’ve used a little more seasoning. The roasted veggies and potatoes complemented the dish.
Overall, I’d rate this place a second out of the fourth Italian restaurant I’ve visited here in Winnipeg, with their Pasta Salciccia making the highlight of our visit. The ambience was cozy but felt crowded with people talking. Not really a space for an intimate dinner, but more of a social one.

The spaghetti was way overcooked. Even though the sauce is good, restaurant is well decorated, you can’t screw up the most easiest and crucial part while you are charging $2x per pasta don’t you. Service is meh but I can see the floor is understaff.

The place looks nice, but that’s about it. The staff acted like they couldn’t care less, and the service was slow. They didn’t seem to care until it was time to bring the bill. Overcooked pasta and the Bolognese tasted nothing like what was promised. Honestly, if they can’t even get basic service and decent food right, there’s no reason to waste time here.

Save yourself a dreary meal. Food is below average. My pasta tasted like alphaghetti. Service was super slow and non-attentive. Server messed up the order and apologized, but was waited 45 minutes for it to be corrected. Super disappointing experience. There are much better options for the price.
Four of us had dinner there for the first time tonight and we were absolutely dazzled by the food, presentation, and service. We will definitely be going back for more.

If you leave less than 5 stars on Open Table manager Michael will reference your previous reviews and treat you accordingly (poor service, hostile attitude, unaccommodating ). There is nothing WOW about the hospitality at Alena. Poor to the core. Mangers are the face of your company. Choose wisely. As a women, I felt very threatened by the male manager getting in my face and saying what he said. I'm appalled by his aggressive behaviour. For this reason I will never return. Now, I tell people Alena is “Wow!” For all the wrong reasons!! “Wow! They are bad! Id recommend they change their name to Yikes! Hospitality (don't worry manager Michael, I'll never return and tell local friends and family to avoid your restaurant as well)!! Ps. Glad Alena took my advice for coat racks (as stated in my 3 star review held against me). I strongly encourage you continue to take my advice, replace your despicable manager next!! You should be ashamed to employ this man!
