Stale food and very disappointing quality for the price - way better bakeries in the city!

This past Saturday was a celebration for a group of Saskatoon boys visiting Winnipeg for the Banjo Bowl. Our evening ended at Baked Expectations. Not only were the desserts incredible but so was the service. Our server was the cherry on top of our sweet evening with his cheeky humour, playful interactions and all-around fun service. Muchas gracias! Thank you very much for making our visit even more enjoyable. Bravo!

Warning— NOT TOURIST FRIENDLY!
Went here wanting to try something new and fun. Sign on the door says “no credit, cash or debit only.”
Sounds good, we have debit cards, so we head in not worried about it. We are looking at the cakes, and someone says we can order it to go, or we need to sit down and be served. We sit, it takes awhile for them to come over- but they’re busy I get it! The cake and cheesecake were alright. I was hoping for more flavor. We go to pay, and the machine won’t take our debit card. The cashier says, “local debit only.” We are from the U.S., and had we known that our cards would not work here- we wouldn’t have ordered and eaten. We have enough cash luckily, but the cashier won’t honor the exchange rate. Again, we have no choice- as this was not known or posted on the door.
If you’re going to post a sign saying the business has limits to the type of payments, at least be honest with it so that customers know what is expected of them. I’ll go ahead and fix that sign for you, as it SHOULD say “no credit, CAD cash or LOCAL debit only.”
Long story short, I feel like I was taken advantage of, and that left a real sour taste in my mouth. Mediocre cake, and not at all friendly towards tourists.

Their customer service was top notch when I phoned Monday morning to have a cake made for Tuesday afternoon and they were happy to oblige. Many other bakeries need 2-3 days notice! Very very clean and tidy establishment and friendly staff.
I witnessed one of the most shameful demonstrations of low-class behavior today. A DoorDash driver came to collect an order, and one of your workers proceeded to dress him down because “his bag was filthy.” First of all, I saw the bag, and it wasn’t “filthy.” It was simply scuffed up from wear and tear, but calling it filthy was a huge stretch.
I want to be clear: it’s okay to have opinions about how you believe standards should be held, but he could have called him aside and spoken to him like an adult. Instead, he chose to dress him down publicly just to feed his overblown ego.
It is sad that this is what we have been reduced to as a society, where basic civility is thrown out the window. From the look of your trashy worker, it was clear this wasn’t the first time he has treated people at your shop so shamefully.
I felt so bad for the young DoorDash driver. He is lucky the young man showed restraint, because from the size of him, he could have easily handled the situation differently.
Truly shameful behavior.

Absolutely dynamic cakes. The selection is outstanding and after all these years they continue to come up with new delicious types. My visits there always amaze me. It’s a treasure of a place and I comment the person running it for the high standards, personalized service and wonderful products
I rarely leave reviews, but I feel compelled to share my experience. The manager at this location was incredibly rude and unprofessional. From the moment I interacted with them, it was clear that customer service was not a priority. They were dismissive of my questions, spoke in a condescending tone, and seemed irritated that I even needed assistance.
In a service industry where politeness and professionalism should be a given, this was not the case. Instead of helping to resolve the situation, the manager's attitude only made things worse. It was not just a one-time thing either—I've witnessed this behavior in the past, and it seems like a recurring issue.
I truly hope the company addresses this and takes the necessary steps to ensure that all staff, especially managers, treat customers with respect and courtesy. A positive attitude goes a long way in fostering loyalty and trust, and unfortunately, this was lacking during my visit.
