Me and the wife come often for supper. They have a great cocktail menu and the deep fried cheese curds are a must have to start
My first time, although a good friend dines here often and my wife has also been here several times. Service was good, once they realized we were seated (comped us the first round of drinks for having to wait). Tried basic salt and pepper wings, nothing wrong, but not quite as good as Earl's. Had their sirloin steak. I often don't order a sirloin because about half of them from any restaurant, Keg, Earls, here, anywhere, are not great cuts. This one was came out round. It was perfectly cooked, but about 1/3-1/2 was gristle. I would not order it again. My wife's meal was excellent and I would go back for sure, but I would try anything but the steak.
Made a reaction for a standard booth. Got seated at bar which was good. Nice atmosphere. Waitress was attentive and friendly. Dinner good. The only complaint was house flies and fruit flies. Lots of shooing! Annoying after awhile.
We were a party of four. One person’s meal wasn’t too good and she mentioned it to the server, who apologized and took 25% off the bill. My meal also wasn’t very good. The crispy fries and salad were nice, but the blackened chicken and ribs were both very dry and overdone. I didn’t say anything because our companion had already mentioned hers and got a discount, so I don’t want it to seem like we were just complainers. We had purchased a gift card for our companions’ wedding and it didn’t register as valid. The manager did deal with it and gave us the credit, so we didn’t have to go through the hassle of getting our credit card statement to verify the purchase. It worked out, however, it could have been very embarrassing if our companions had come by themselves and were told the card wasn’t valid. The server was very good and the meals were prompt. The manager seemed genuinely concerned about making sure things were right, but they have a bit of work to do on the food quality end. All staff were very friendly.
I brought a women’s group here for lunch that consisted of 14 people. We had the most amazing table in the far end of the restaurant portion of this establishment and it was very bright and private. The restaurant is very hip and modern. Everybody seemed to be very happy with their food and I was thrilled with my curry chickpea soup and garlic bread. Some of the ladies mentioned that the dishes were spicy, so maybe ask for less spice if you don’t enjoy that. I, personally, really enjoyed the spice in my soup. Sierra took care of us really well and the lunch was a great success!
We have visited a few times and it’s always been great. The house made drinks put together by bar tenders and managers were a massive hit. So creative and so good. Food always great. It’s not the biggest place so it gets loud especially in lounge on weekends. Reservations recommended. Servers always have been really good too.
Ordered the charcuterie and they brought it out within a minute. The prosciutto looked off so we didn’t eat it. The bread was so dry and no jelly or mustard. Also we then realized the board was sitting a while in the fridge and the bread tasted like it soaked up smells from the fridge. Explains why it came out right away. I ordered a bloc salad for my main and all it was was spring mix and ranch dressing. Got a piece of salmon and it was extremely dry. Won’t be going back.
We came for dinner on December 10th, 2022. The restaurant was busy so that has to be taken into consideration. However service was VERY slow. I asked for water and got it maybe 15 minutes later. For water that's much too long of a wait. Then all of our meals were wrong. Missing sides, steaks cooked improperly. The meals also came out so staggered that by the time the last person got their meal the first was already done eating.... Overall, we would not return.

Once a fortnight my son Jack and I like to have a steak at the Bar & Block restaurant Whitely. This evenings visit was really memorable. We were greeted by Mel with a broad smile and heartfelt welcome. Mel then ushered us to our table and although the restaurant was busy she had time to chat to us as she was taking our drinks order. Mel told us that Karen would be waiting our table which was great news as Karen never disappoints. Throughout the duration of the meal Karen continued to check if we were OK and whether we needed anything else. Even though she was busy serving other tables, Karen found time to chat about Gary who is a front of house manager at the restaurant; apparently, due to the Covid aftermath, it is difficult to recruit kitchen staff and Gary has stepped up and taken a position in the Kitchen preparing meals for hungry souls like me, which in my view is highly commendable. I don't know who the front of house manager was this evening but the staff all seem to get on very well in an efficient and very friendly manner which reflects well on them and the manager. What a great place to eat - very well done; pardon the pun.

Service was once again excellent. Rihanna S was efficient and very capable. She didn’t make us feel rushed and did a great job of serving the 6 of us. Everyone enjoyed lunch. Sweet potato fries are so good! Fish tacos were tasty. Stuffed mushrooms excellent. Flatbreads and the Greek salad wrap were as good as ever. So nice to have a local restaurant that serves such tasty dishes and is open every day!
A great place for dinner. Food was great, service was good, portions were just right. We had the burgers and chicken club. Excellent! Prices are reasonable. Go, enjoy, you will love it.
It was a cold February night and why not try something new. I type this as I sit at my table attempting to drink water and flush the salt out of my mouth, however we have been here for over an hour and no one has refilled our water glasses. Let's start at the beginning, the hostess was probably the most pleasant of the 3 servers who all seemed to be in a giant rush despite the restaurant only being half full. Next the server seemed lack luster, the server who we won't name was uninterested in providing any type of quality service. Our diet cokes came quickly only to be flat as could be, we ran out of co2 we were told and then were swerved 2 more glasses of flat diet coke after they fixed the problem. The best part of the meal was the deep fried cheese curds which were crisp, tasty and came with a nice marinara sauce. Next up 2 Block burgers which were recommended, one came with a tasty Cesar salad but disappointed no fresh pepper just a terrible packet of flavorless pepper. The best part of the burgers was the quality butcher style bacon despite being deep fried, it had a tasty flavour. The burger patty itself was of good size and nice texture however the salt shaker must have fallen into the patty making machine. One would have to ask did the chef try this patty on it's own? The onion onion rings came out hot but I was able to ring grease out of them just like Robert Irvine on Restaurant Impossible. What a disappointment. All and all a 5 / 10, no manager came to ask how things were and no customer survey on the receipt. Fyi the water glasses are still empty. In case you're wondering 2 burgers and a appetizer $45.92 after tax. Yes I still tipped and onto the next great winnipeg burger critique! February 24 2022 at 19:32 hours, order 102
Went here for a middle of the week dinner as we didn't feel like cooking and had a gift card to use. Prompt service upon arrival and good COVID protocols in place. I ordered the chicken club and fries, good sandwich using a grilled chicken breast. My only comment would be that the supposedly spicy mayo was not spicy at all. Wife ordered a salad and salt and pepper wings, good as well. Only one minor complaint would be that the wings lacked flavour or at least consistency of flavour. Overall a good meal, would return and would recommend.
First time at Block And Blade for dinner and drinks. We had a view of the bathroom and kitchen and because the booths are so tall, you can’t see any other patrons but it sounded like there were people in the restaurant. Drinks were great, Smoke Shop Martini, Ginger Pomegranate Margarita delicious but didn’t have the ginger in it, very disappointing for the price of the drink. Caesar’s are good too. We have an average tasting spinach dip for an appetizer. My blackened fish tacos were tasteless. I only ate 1 so that’s saying something. The cilantro aeoli was the only flavour in the taco. Too much sad lettuce and grated cheese, I felt like I would make it better at home. My husband had the ribs, it came with a rock hard inedible bun (no butter). Ribs were very tasty, but only if you like them doused in liquid smoke. We won’t go again, money would be better spent somewhere with atmosphere and better food.
