Nice sushi place! Very fresh fish. A bit on the pricier side.

Table was too small and the chairs felt cramped. The sushi was ok but not worth the price that they ask for. The lighting and the decor made the dining experience not very nice. Also, the sashimi didn't taste particularly fresh. The green onion in the negi toro tasted a little bit off, like the slime that forms when it sits for a while. The dragon roll tasted pretty good. My impression is that this is a place where you order rolls, and not where you want to get nigiri, sashimi, or maki. I thought it might be based off the reviews and menu, but it ended up being an expensive let down. I have nothing particularly bad to say about the service, other than I wish that we were offered a larger table because it felt very cramped.

Ordered 3 different types of sushi, it was terrible. Philadelphia have so little salmon that you can’t even taste it, dynamite roll looks great but tastes awful and the last also bad. Definitely the worst sushi I ate in Canada (if you don’t count sushi from grocery store)

POV / REAL
Paid for a nice dinner, got a big disappointment instead.
Even the rice was bad 🤮.
Ordered on August 14th at 8:30 PM

They didn't send all of our order and refused to fix it. No refund. Nothing. The food we got was just ok. Tired of being ripped off every time we order takeout. Won't order again.

Way too expensive for what you get!

I visited Blufish yesterday evening with my boyfriend and my mom (we were all craving sushi), and we heard lots of great reviews and word that Blufish was one of the top places in Winnipeg to go for good sushi (alongside Yujiro on Grant).

We reserved a table earlier in the day online - this was a super easy and convenient option! We ended up arriving 15 minutes early and they were able to accommodate (I was 100% okay with waiting if needed, but it was great to see how accommodating and welcoming the crew at Blufish was). ☺️

First off - the cocktails. 😍 I tried both their Plumtini and Lychee-tini, and I honestly could have sipped on those all night long. Our server was really great with recommending cocktails to try as well!

Between the three of us, we ordered a variety of items - from edamame beans, to sashimi and nigiri sushi, and a few different rolls. I myself have a shellfish allergy (a sin for a person who loves sushi), and the staff were very accommodating with making sure that the items that were unsafe for me were on separate plates, and they acknowledged when those specific rolls were on the table as well. Kudos to the staff - this effort meant so much to me! 🙌🏼

The sashimi and nigiri was amazing, their wasabi was great - the only items I found I could have passed on were their salmon bakudan roll, the seaweed wrap was quite chewy and not my favourite, and their philadelphia roll (again, just a tad bit chewier than I’m used to - although I will say that I really appreciated that they were open to switching out the smoked salmon for raw salmon with this roll). These are not reasons that will deter me from returning though - I will definitely come back again!

I can definitely vouch after this visit that Blufish is indeed one of the top places in Winnipeg for sushi - I will agree with that one!

This restaurant is located in the historic Exchange District. A great setting for a wonderful dinner. Food and service were fantastic. Seating area was on the smallish side which provided for perfect energy when it was full. Definitely will go again!

We ate supper here on a Saturday evening, it wasn't too busy and we were seated right away. Almost the entire menu can be made gluten free (except gyoza and BBQ eel). Make sure to ask for gluten free soy sauce too. We had the agedashi tofu to start. Very delicious and crispy gluten free tempura batter. Then we shared the Lobster roll, Ben roll, and the super dynamite roll. They were all so good. I couldn't recommend this place any more than just saying you must come if you have a gluten free or Celiac diet. I'm so glad this was recommended on Facebook and Find me Gluten Free.

The Tuna and Wild Salmon Sashimis were excellent, my personal yardstick of s sushi restaurant. The portions ere generous. I usually only eat sushi near the ocean, this place made me reconsider that, the fish was nice and fresh. I only have been here once, so I cannot guarantee what your experience will be, but being so far from the seafood ports, good sushi is harder to find, I can recommend that your odds of a good sushi experience are pretty solid at Blufish. We enjoyed our evening thouroughly!
