Amazing staff, great food, always nice to come for a tasty breakfast or late lunch. Pastries always fresh and delicious. Coffee is the best!!!!!! I love the back corner of the restaurant, nice and quiet. Thank you very much! Cafe Assante feels to me like a very nice place to visit, have a tasty meal, and rest before going back to work.

Very good food, friendly staff, meals arrive quickly and the prices are very good for downtown Winnipeg. A meal at Cafe Asante is exactly what you expect from a diner and it doesn't disappoint.

My go-to spot for lunch nowadays. The staff are super friendly and the food is always delicious. Love going there when I don't know what I want because they'll suggest something and it's always amazing.

Food was good. Opted for Chips as a side... And was given 9 potato chips... We had a good giggle. I would come back.

Highly recommend both the Chicken Tikka wrap and the Tandoori Chicken Sandwich

Café Asante is the epitome of classic office lunch eatery. They moved into the main portion of Winnipeg Square just outside of the foodcourt. It's a take out place and a dine in restaurant with dark colours that has more of an intimate dinner feel than a casual lunch shop. The menu is made up of various sandwiches, averaging $8. They also serve soup and salad and a handful of hot main items like lasagna and roti. I went with the quesadilla ($7.15) which includes chicken, red and green red peppers, red onions and monterrey jack cheese with salsa, sour cream and some chips on the side. Quesadillas are usually the last thing I order at a restaurant but nothing really jumped out at me as I didn't feel like eating a deli sandwich. The quesadilla wasn't greasy and seemed like a decently healthy choice. There was good portion of filling inside the quesadilla so that was good. The salsa was not made in house and it wasn't spicy at all though I don't think there was a choice. I asked if there was a choice other than chips as a side and I was given an option yet by the time my take out order arrived, I got the chips instead. So that was a bit disappointing. The one thing that kinda bothers me about this place is the weird set up of the queue for paying. The odd thing is that patrons who dine in just walk up and tell the person what they ate and they pay. It's weird that there's no bill and it all just sounds like the honour system. My issue is that there's only one line and that also happens to be the one where people ordering take out are moving along. It's confusing because I had a bunch of diners cut me while I standing in line waiting to pay my take out order. I asked some people around me about how this line works, everyone was just as confused as me! Odd. I wouldn't come back here because for the same price, I could eat elsewhere and be more satisfied. But it's convenient if you work in the Portage & Main area as this place is very busy and it seems like there's a very loyal following of older office types.

Great roti, sandwiches, salads, daily specials - go for the tandoori chicken sandwich!
