Neat place for late night Pho.Had a craving for pho and it was 11pm already. Finding this place on Google really helped. Closing time is 1am.Layout is nice and welcoming. Prices are decent and the service was great. Appetizers and main course all came within 15 mins as we were the only ones there at 1130pm.Would highly recommend for a place to eat especially if you crave Asian foods past 11pm.

I visit Chao at least once a month for food and drinks. The shrimp salad rolls and the lychee martini are my faves! Can’t go wrong! The server/bartender/owner Tang always takes care of his customers so you feel like family.

Liked the little upstairs bar area. Very cute - wasps overwhelming so would keep that to drinks if I went again. Food was just ok. Not very much of it for the price. Maybe just a bad night for them but unimpressed this time .Vegetarian options: There were a couple of options. My friend had a vegetarian choice - again it was ok. But not worth returning for if this night was representative of most nights.

I was born in Vietnam and eat out at Vietnamese restaurants in Winnipeg almost once a week so I like to think that I know a thing or two about Vietnamese food. We were very excited to try this place based on the Google reviews but sadly the food was very disappointing. We each had a different vermicelli bowl and both agreed that everything lacked flavor, including the fish sauce which barely tasted like anything. Add to that the cost of each dish was 50% more than at other Vietnamese restaurants. If you want actual Vietnamese food with flavor at a decent price, go to Pho No 1 or Viva.

I decided to check out this resto mainly because it was the only one that was open late. Also, the online reviews were favorable. I ordered the deluxe rice vermicelli dish with pork patty, charbroiled pork & spring roll. All in all it was quite tasty, the noodles were cooked just right, the veggies were crispy and fresh, and the grilled meat was superb. The meal went down well. My only critique > the spring roll was a little bland, the fish sauce was okay but too diluted and lacked punch, and the serving size was moderate. Other than that the meal was delicious. Re: the atmosphere, a little loud for my taste, but I guess that was to be expected ... the reason being is that I dined on the roof patio at 10 pm on a Sunday evening in June, where a young crowd was celebrating someone's b-day, and the drinks were flowing. ? ... Other than that, the 2nd floor open air patio had a good vibe > lots of fresh air, a nice view of Corydon Ave below. The servers were very friendly and accommodating. I'll probably go back some time and try another dish, pho soup perhaps ! ?

Came back here a second time because it’s so close to me. However we ate at the patio this time and all the food is packaged in take out boxes. Is this normal? It just seems like a waste and terrible for the environment. Once we’re done eating.. the containers go straight into the trash. Plates would have been just fine

We're lucky enough to have this place right across the back lane! We tried their pho satay, beef and pork banh mi sandwiches. The pho broth was excellent with a great amount of peanut. The banh mi's were larger than expected and the meat was nice and tender. We will definitely be going back here. I'll add pictures on our next order!

The vibes of this establishment and especially the food, are IMPECCABLE!! Shout out to the staff for their friendliness and always having the food coming out quick and hot! I can’t wait for their rooftop patio to open and being able to kick back and relax on it all summer long.
