This is a hidden gem in the East Kildonan area. I think we found our go-to brunch place in Winnipeg.
From the food (I had eggs Benedict) to the pastries (Toblerone cake) and coffee, everything we ordered (wife had the Mediterranean eggs, son had the pancakes) was great!
A friend recommended this place to me but didn’t get to go until after our vacation. The wait was worth it and was not disappointed!

We came for coffee at about 2:30 on November 23. It was our first time at the Cottage Bakery and we were quit impressed I ordered a cappuccino and my partner ordered a cappuccino with oat milk (she is lactose intolerant which she stated to the waitress). Our friends had coffee, we all had desserts which we selected right away! We were practically finished our desserts before the coffees arrived! They managed to switch the lactose free with the regular cappuccino, the result was that my partner was sick for the whole evening!

The staff are amazing and the place is beautifully done. I have enjoyed the meals I have had here. But I am not sure what has happened but the desserts I had recently were not good. I had the nanimo bar and imperial cookie. They both had an awful sandy texture and not much taste. The pave nicoise slice was just okay. My friend got the beef pies and so said they had a wet and mushy texture with too much potato and hardly any ground beef. She had the honey slice and said it was off putting. But the sourdough was very good in her opinion. I have been coming here since they opened and am sad I had this experience. It feels like the butter was cut back on and lacked taste as well. I hope this was a one time experience. I will be back to try again but felt management should be told if the above.

Excellent food. Portions were a good size. They have a large array of yummy baked goods to tempt you. The service was exceptionally awesome. Definitely a place to stop for breakfast or lunch.

Nicely updated, fantastic customer service but the desserts are sub par we tried 2 cheesecakes / tart / red velvet/ lemon slice / brownie - no flavor so disappointing loved Bake Oven and these desserts look amazing but lacked in flavor and were dry ? sadly won’t be back
