Dduck Sa Rang (the Rice Cake House)

Fresh korean rice cakes! Very good! Soft and chewy. :)) I visted with a family member.

We have eaten rice cakes before, but only have tried korean rice cakes a few times. This time we tried 절편 Jeolpyeon and 호박떡 Pumpkin Rice Cake. I love rice cakes so my personal favourite was the 절편 Jeolpyeon! There is nothing inside, just pure rice cake, but they have two flavors: mugwort and normal. ? The 호박떡 Pumpkin Rice Cake was more similar to western cake texture, except it was made with rice flour and pumpkin so it was a fluffy and springy cake, but denser than sponge cake. It was $5 for each one.

I think I first heard of this store when I saw their products around various asian grocery stores across Winnipeg. I have actually been wanting to visit their store for years now, probably around 2020, but never got around to it until yesterday. This store does large order quantity and also does small quantity. Large order should be ordered by phone or you can visit their instagram page @Winnipeg_dducksarang (linked as their website on the google page). They seem most active on instagram and even post daily what they will sell on the menu that day. You should go earlier in the shop day because they may sell out if you go later. ?

Partner and I walked in, literally had a good handful of goods and no one came to take our payment. We tried calling for a cashier… we saw the dishwasher… but not even a glance was given. We even yelled because we wanted to pay. We actually could have walked out with it—we did not, everything was put back.
