Had a great dinner for my birthday, all the food was great, the dNa potatoes are so incredible and will definitely be back. The only small thing I would change was all the dishes could have been a bit warmer when they arrived, but besides that the meal was fantastic and I would gladly come back!

We had not been in a few years and thankfully, nothing has changed.Very creative and well put together tasting menu with local ingredients. Knowledgeable, enthusiastic servers also add to the experience.

I recently dined at Deer + Almond on their first night with a new menu, and the experience was a mixed bag of delights and disappointments.Starting with the positives, the PEI oysters were delightful, albeit marred by a piece of shell or sand in one of them. The feta saganaki was a standout dish, highly recommendable for its excellent flavor. Additionally, the steelhead trout en brioche was a culinary masterpiece, boasting a delightful crust and rich flavors, although the server's comparison to a grilled cheese felt out of place. On the flip side, the goldeye & whitefish caviar lacked the flavor punch we anticipated, resulting in an unfinished plate. The black trumpet pierogies were decent but failed to leave a lasting impression. The duck confit was a hit for those fond of spicy Asian cuisine, but the cold eggplant accompaniment left something to be desired. Despite this flaw, it remained a favorite dish of the evening.Desserts provided a sweet ending to the meal, with the peanut semifreddo stealing the show with its addictive flavors. However, the cedar custard and ground cherries fell short due to overly tart cherries overpowering the dish's other delightful flavors. The restaurant's atmosphere was lively and vibrant, contributing positively to the overall experience. However, the confusing and uncomfortable unisex bathrooms were a notable downside.Service was a mixed bag, with a lengthy wait of one hour between the first and second courses, followed by shorter but still noticeable delays for subsequent courses. In conclusion, while Deer + Almond is clearly experimenting with exciting new dishes, our experience highlighted both successes and areas for improvement. With time and refinement, I believe they will undoubtedly hone their menu and service to provide consistently exceptional dining experiences.

Visited here a couple weeks ago and got extremely sick…food was likely contaminated.…and to my surprise, they were shut down on April 6 last year:Apr 6 – Rodents, contaminated food, unclean food surfaces….Never will be back - be aware folks.

This is probably the best restaurant in Winnipeg. My wife and I go to alot of different restaurants, and this one has by far the most flavorful food. This restaurant is on the more costly side, but i can guarantee you it is well worth it. I didn't take any pictures of the food ? but everything looked as beautiful as my wife. The service was wonderful, very attentive and nice.

Rainy Day

Everytime I’m in town, for the last 4 years, I keep on trying to eat here and literally every single time, they are closed or booked for a private event. Now I’m back for Xmas and again they are closed during our entire trip. I laugh cause I’ve never had this difficult of a time trying to eat at a restaurant. I’d love to go, maybe year 6 will be my lucky year in 2024.

Absolutely amazing place for food and drinks. Atmosphere was quite loud but that was fine with me. Prices were high but you definitely get spectacular food and great service. Great place to celebrate any occasion.

Deer+Almond has well deserved its place as one of Canada's best. Unlike many other restaurants, this one offers a unique, mind-blowing experience. The place is lovely and has a cool modern decoration (I was a personal fan of the squirell at the bar). It's really nice to visit a high-end restaurant which is not just black or dark, here you'll find pastel colors, neon lights and fun art.The food is just amazing, and I highly recommend you to share in order to try as many dishes as possible. To start, we had the Jerusalem Artichoke and deer carpaccio. This last one is definitely a must try if it is available when you visit. We also tried goldeye nigiri and green pappardelle, as well as trout and pork. We loved that the restaurant creates and gives its own twist with local ingredients, which is what makes the food special. No single dish disappointed us. They were al delicious!Something that made us appreciate our food even more, is knowing that every time we visit we'll likely find something different since the chefs are always creating new dishes and keeping things fresh according to the season and the chefs vision for the day.The staff is fantastic and open to suggesting their own favourites if asked. We also had the opportunity to meet both chefs and owners, which are really creative and were really kind to explain some of the story of Deer + Almond and the food they serve.Deer + Almond is not just food but a whole experience, and it's great to be able to enjoy this place in Winnipeg. Totally recommend it!

Disappointed that what we ordered was pretty mediocre, though the drinks were good. Glazed pumpkin with pork belly was good; the pappardelle (not spicy) and the mushroom duxelle ravioli (cauliflower ones were bland) were okay as well. The beef shank consomme, schnitsu, apple cake, and peanut semifreddo were meh at best. Our server was not great, but everyone else that helped with water and bussing was. Hlnot a bad experinec but had hoped for more, especially for the price.

Wonderful food! It was all good, but the pork terrine, the caviar and latke, and the peanut semifredo were just out of this world. Nice wines too. The wait staff were really nice and very responsive. Highly recommended!

Overall experience is good. We did the tasting menu. I did really enjoy the ravioli.. the other dishes were not bad. I would prefer to have à la carte instead though.

In town for town and snagged a seat at the bar. Tasting menu was amazing, with a great explanation of the dishes from the staff to help guide my choices. The wines were excellent, and I couldn't get enough of each bite. Great value for the quality of each of the four courses with clear passion from the chef and team - will gladly return next time I'm in town!

First we had a glass of wine , very limited menu for wine , i sent the first glass back as it was just like grape juice , then ordered the grilled romaine , so terrible , i had the duck comfeit the tart was about 5 inches round if that , so bad , we couldn’t wait to get out of there ,it is not worth the money as the portions are unbelievablly small like too small , the perogies were the size of brazil nuts , so bad , very sad dinner , will tell preppie never to go , it’s unfortunate
