Elephant & Castle absolutely knocked it out of the park. I’m not kidding — this place deserves its own championship banner. The food, the vibe, the whole atmosphere… unreal. But the real superstar, the absolute MVP of the entire experience, is Dwight.
Dwight isn’t just good at his job — he operates on a different frequency. The guy has hospitality in his DNA. He remembered our names, made perfect recommendations like he’d known us for years, checked in at exactly the right moments, and somehow kept the whole place running like he owned it. If there was a Hall of Fame for service, Dwight would already have a bronze statue out front.
Elephant & Castle is already a great spot, but with Dwight? It becomes a must-visit, must-experience, must-tell-your-friends kind of place. If you go anywhere else, you’re doing it wrong.

I’m genuinely shocked at how badly I was treated here. I came in while staying at the hotel right next door during a business trip, and I waited over 20 minutes without anyone even acknowledging me. Staff walked by, looked at me, and still ignored me.
It honestly felt like I was being treated differently from other customers who came in after me and were helped right away. Whether it was bias, lack of professionalism, or just terrible service, it was completely unacceptable.
After standing there like I didn’t exist, I just walked out. If this is how they treat people who are literally staying beside their restaurant, I can’t imagine how they treat anyone else.
Absolutely disappointing, uncomfortable, and a terrible first impression of the city’s hospitality. Definitely not coming back.

My brother and I meet about once a month at the elephant in Castle for lunch. We really look forward to this as we almost always get the same server Krissy, who is just wonderful! She always remembers our order and makes us feel special. She checks on us several times while we’re there just to make sure everything‘s OK. She is warm and friendly and we just love her! The entire atmosphere in the restaurant is great and friendly and we’ve also come to know Dwight who always has a smile and a wave for us. We will continue to visit and we always look forward to the eating outside in the summer.

We had a fantastic experience thanks to our regular server, Krissy! my brother and I have lunch at the Elephant and Castle once and month, and Krissy books the same table and time for each visit. From the moment we arrived, she is warm, attentive, and incredibly professional. Krissy anticipated our needs without being intrusive, made great recommendations, and ensured everything was perfect throughout the meal. Krissy friendly attitude and genuine care made the visit truly memorable. A big shoutout to Dwight, the owner, for creating such a welcoming and well-run establishment. It’s rare to find service this good—thank you for making our time so enjoyable! Highly recommend!

This place has ruined Fish and Chips for me and I mean that in the best way possible. The quality of your Fish and Chips is literally some of the best i've ever had in my life, and I will now forever compare everyone elses to the standards that you make yours. Out of this world!

Hey all! It’s Mori here! We stopped by Elephant and Castle as I was quite interested in the restaurant as I’ve walked by a few times. It’s beautifully decorated and lots of seating. It was a bit livelier and found a lot of guests at this location. My partner and I went in on a Wednesday evening and ordered these Chorizo sausage pastries as an appetizer. It came along with this curry ketchup sauce and we were a bit uncertain about this combination. The sausage is made in house and after a couple bites we realized that it does work well together. What a combination! I’d like to persuade others to try this as well and see what your thoughts are!

It was my husband and I's first time going to Elephant & Castle today and I definitely recommend it!
Our server Lori was attentive without being overbearing, and very kind.
The drinks were delicious! I got a Ceasar, it was spicy and perfect. My husband got the 'Bees Knees', the Gin flavor kindof overtook the lemon but still very good.
The food was FANTASTIC. My husband got the regular burger and seemed pretty happy with it, the fries were perfectly cooked and crispy. I also love that they have Malt Vinegar on the tables as I'm a feind for it haha. I got the Chicken Pot Pie and it was SO. GOOD. It reminded me of the pies my Nana used to make when I was a kid. Chicken was perfectly cooked and the flaky pie crust was perfection, absoluyely delicious.
10/10 recommend to anyone looking for a place to go downtown Winnipeg. Will definitely be going back for another pie!
I was here last year and forgot to leave a review but from what I remember the food and service was awesome! I would love to come back here again.
