If you’re hungry and want a sub that hits harder than a February wind in Winnipeg, Firehouse Subs on Sterling Lyon is the move. The food’s always top-notch — hot, cheesy, and stacked just right. You can tell they don’t phone it in.

Now, the flip side: service moves at the pace of traffic on Kenaston at 5 PM, and good luck finding a seat a lot of times as it’s packed tighter than the Costco parking lot on payday. But hey, once that first bite hits, you’ll forgive them.

I have had 3 terrible experiences now within the past year at this location. Each time something has been missing from my sub. Today there was no turkey in my turkey bacon ranch sub and last time we were given a completely empty kids sub, it was just bread. I’m done with this location and won’t be returning.

A very nice clean store. Friendly employees. Great parking. Thanksgiving sub was huge and amazing. Totally fresh and loaded with ingredients to the brim. It was a sloppy job to try and eat it but man was it good. The only thing is that it needs more cranberry sauce on it. It was literally just a smear of it on mine. I’d love for this to be a regular item on their menu. It was $20 for the large sub but it’s worth the price. Quality of ingredients is top notch !!!

I walked into Firehouse Subs expecting a sandwich. I left a changed man.

From the moment Arif looked up and said, “What can I get for you?” I knew I was in the presence of greatness. His voice carried the calm confidence of a man who has toasted a thousand buns and conquered every condiment combination known to humankind. I stuttered something about a brisket hat trick, and he nodded like a master swordsman acknowledging a worthy opponent.

He moved behind that counter like poetry in motion. Mayo? Precision. Lettuce? Artistry. The way he sprinkled that cheese… I swear time slowed down, “This is what inner peace looks like.”

When he handed me my sub, it wasn’t just wrapped in paper it was wrapped in destiny. I took my first bite and ascended. My taxes? Filed themselves. My posture? Fixed. My skin? Glowed. Somewhere, a bald eagle cried a single patriotic tear.

If Firehouse Subs ever decides to create a new sandwich in his honor, it should simply be called “The Arif” because no other name could capture the flavor of excellence, the aroma of purpose, and the crunch of destiny.

Thank you, Arif. You didn’t just make me a sandwich. You made me believe in humanity again.

I came in today around 1:15 pm and was told they were not taking any more orders right now for they were behind on orders, and the girl walked away …I came from Westwood wpg where we don’t have a fireman sub all the way there and gas ain’t cheap and was told this…I asked to talk to the manager who said he’d take my order but it would be about 15 minutes …I didn’t mind the wait but being told you can’t order at lunch time was unacceptable ….The amount of business they lost today myself people were telling people walking in there that they weren’t taking any more orders …I counted 11 people …Buisness must be very good when they are turning people away …

The food was ok but the problem was with the service. Took nearly 40 mins to get a sandwich. They said it would be 15-20 min. The service was so slow I observed 4-5 people request refunds. I observed people who waited nearly an hour for a sandwich. I may try fireside subs again, but I have no desire to ever return to this location. I think part of the issue is they take these large door dash, Uber eats orders and don't serve the customers in the store.

The service was slow and lacking. The estimated wait time was 15 to 20 min. I was fine and accepting of that time. the order for 1 sub took 45 min. There were other patrons who i could hear who were waiting 60 min and staff had no answer as to when their food was ready. At peak times, online orders such as doordash/uber eats should be not be an option until in house guests have been served. There was about 15 to 20 walk in customers waiting for their orders with at least 4 who requested a refund do to the amount of time their orders were taking. The food was good, but I've had better from other Firehouse Sub locations. We wanted to take out, however due to the amount of time waiting, we had to dine in as we were lacking time to take away and eat before the Bombers game.

Staff was really nice & friendly. Beats the other two sub joints. I was at the one on tailor street by the old hydro building. The staff took the time to explain how thing work. Unreal it's now my new sub place when I want a sub. Great job keep the great work up..

Much better than our only other experience, in Charleston SC. We had two different sandwiches and took samples from each other, good all around. Not cheap like the ubiquitous entry into the category, but honestly worth the extra cost. We will for sure be back!

The subs are delicious, the app has deals and is easy to use, and it’s nice to order ahead of time so you don’t have to wait. It can take some time if you order there.
