Update on Nov 13:
Ok so I have been into places to find the best UNAGI!!! And guess what, I think Edokko will be my to-go place only for unagi from now ? last time, I tried their lunch special but tonight, I ordered their unadon and I DIDNT REGRET! The best one so far in Winnipeg guys.

Wanted to try this restaurant out and finally got to dine in?
They have lunch special that comes with soup, tea, main course and ice cream. Everything was great and fresh.
They have a little store area at the back too! It was 27$ before taxes. The portion came with a salad, soup and seaweed salad. Everything was fresh. The eel was marinated perfectly. Highly recommend and I will be there more often ?

Parking: They have parking on-site but just around 8-10 cars. There will be street parking but lucky if you find one during rush hour!

Delicious sushi and other japanese dishes! I like their lunch menu, you get a nice course meal including tea, salad, miso soup, the main dish (I took sashimi) with rice, seaweed salad, another small side dish and ice cream. I also really liked the exports they sell behind and in the freezer. You can get frozen salmon, frozen desserts, fruits, canned drinks, crackers, sauces, noodles and more.

The food at Edokko is outstanding - the quality, taste and presentation is consistent and easily the best in Winnipeg.
Friendly service. The restaurant has limited seating so I’d recommend making reservations, though I’ve gone several times now including tonight and was fortunate enough to get a table. There’s also grocery items available. I’ve always walked out of Edokko happy and with a full belly, and something new to try - highly recommend!

Visiting Winnipeg, craving real Japanese food and google came up with this place. What a find. Run by Japanese people. Real authentic taste. Good quality ingredients. Did not try the California or dynamite type rolls because they are not my thing. Small grocery shop in the back of the restaurant that sells hard to find items. Check this place out.

A humble local Japanese restaurant. They have dining area as well as a small grocery section in the back of the restaurant. I enjoyed my experience there. I phoned and made a reservation before going there because I knew there wasn’t too many tables available. The waitress looked after all customers and you don’t feel neglected at all. The food was pretty decent considered we’re in Winnipeg. We order the tuna tataki as well as deluxe chirashi for our supper. I thought the tuna tataki was just a tid bit over-grilled. But otherwise it’s the sauce and lemon juice elevated the dish well and it was plated nicely. The deluxe chirashi came with the miso soup, salad as well as a side dish. I mean the variety of sashimi was better than what I was expected. I can’t compare the freshness of sashimi to what’s in Japan, but I think it does make me feel satisfied. Would definitely come dine again.

Why don’t businesses update their hours on website and Google? Walked 30 minutes for lunch and it’s closed for folkarama ?

We have ordered from Edokko a few times. The food is excellent and the price is reasonable for the quality. We have eaten sushi at many restaurants and have ordered from a few.
Edokko rates higher than any delivery sushi. They are on par with other highly regarded sushi restaurants. Bravo!

Overall very disappointing. prices were far high for what was provided. not impressive in any way. high pricing, low quality, and not provided with sauces for the sushi listed with sauces.

We walked-in this time for dinner. The staff tried her best to arrange seats for us. Thank God we probably got the last available table! Delicious food, cozy atmosphere, good service!

An unpretentious small restaurant big on quality, delicious Japanese food. If you want excellent food at a reasonable price this is the place for you. Bring your own atmosphere. The food is worth it. One of few Japanese owned and operated in the city.
