Went for lunch with a coworker last week. We decided to split a burger and fries. Asked if we could get the Jets burger and beer special. Said we were working and wondered if we could get a soft drink instead of a beer. The server said the Jets special was only available on Jets Game day. If that’s the case, please make a “note on the menu” if that’s the case. We ordered the burger fries. He asked if we wanted to add cheese for $4.00….what. Said it was real cheese and not processed. Past on that expensive add on. He said he’d cut the burger for us. He brought the burger and fries on two plates. Burger and fries were very tasty. Paid the bill and left. Got home and took a look at the receipt….what??? $1.00 to cut the burger in half and put on separate plates. “1 split for 2 - $1.00” He didn’t mention the up charge for cutting the burger in half and putting it on two plates. $21.28 for a burger and fries….plus a $2.50 tip. Little much for me for a burger and fries. I won’t be going back because of the “split charge”.

We didn't eat or have drinks but in the past years it has been amazing! We were there for Cedar and Steel, an artists show. It was amazing ❤️

Classic patio, friendly attentive service, great food (including the standard poutine which was delicious). Great craft beer choices. We will be back!

The king's head is my favorite spot for drinks in the exchange. I work at a salon down the street and it's a short walk especially appreciated in the winter. Service, food and beer selection are an A+

I came in today and graced this bar with my royal presence.
I then drank 2 coors. The service was good and them beers was delicious.
I moved on to the next bar before anyone got any ideas.

I had the beef tandoori, which I was warned upfront was extremely spicy. As someone from Thailand, I'm used to spicy food. However, the dish was acceptable in terms of heat but surprisingly bitter. Being from northeastern Thailand, where bitter flavors are common in local cuisine, I managed to finish the meat without issue.

When I asked my friends to try it, they all agreed it was too bitter. Despite this, the service was excellent, so I chose not to complain.

What prompted me to write, though, was an incident where I was stopped by staff from going upstairs to see the band setting up, while four of my friends could go up without issue. I felt singled out and wondered, why was I the only one discriminated against?

Cool, nostalgic place. Was a little surprised to see the dining room is a dispensary now, but they seem to be doing well and the atmosphere is still very classic pub vibes. I’ll always visit whenever I’m in town.

One of Winnipeg's best, great pub fare. Guinness on tap and the curry chips are a killer combination

I used to go here weekly, I've probably been over 300 times total if you add it all up. Always brought a crew with me. But the pandemic happened and it had been awhile.

Stood in a long line-up. Asked the bartender, whom I recognized from pre-pandemic times, if they had my favourite beer. A disappointing no would have been fine. Proceeded to insult me for liking that kind of beer, then got visibly and verbally upset that I hadn't decided what kind of beer I wanted. Something along the lines of "you were standing in line that whole time and you haven't decided". Well, I did but you didn't have it. It's really the only beer I like. They didn't even have my backup beer (they used to for sure). Just a bunch of craft beer no one's heard of.

I asked for a recommendation and tried it and it was not very good, but that's usually the case with craft beer. I'm used to places not having my beer but the bartender's attitude was juvenile. Taste is subjective.
