The institution's design is impressive, featuring a stylish color combination that promotes relaxation. We ordered a variety of meats, which were delicious. However, when we requested additional gouda cheese, it lacked flavor, prompting us to ask for a replacement; unfortunately, the waiter showed no apology, only an indignant expression.
For dessert, we tried a cheesecake topped with jam, but it was overloaded with sea salt and inedible. So we returned the dish and later the waiter came to us and said rudely: “You didn't like the cheesecake, huh?", which left us feeling frustrated.
Overall, the restaurant fails to prioritize customer satisfaction, making it seem as if our negative experience was our fault. I wouldn't recommend this establishment, as its appealing appearance is overshadowed by poor food quality and service.

You will be plesantly surprised as i was with the cool relaxed interior of the Nonsuch Brewery. Matthew knows his beer and you can pick up a bottle of beer. Stop in and see for yourself.

Absolutely THE BEST BURGER I ever had!! I have to say it is worth all the other mishaps this restaurant carries… so in my humble opinion and this day and age you can’t deny people an option for fries with their burger! especially since you DO have fries at the restaurant… but “they’re portioned out for steak frites only” said the server without offering an option to substitute with side of chips they also can serve as a side… so yeah, there’s poor service and I would add more comments but this is the culture of “everything is ok” so I can’t expect any classy standards I guess. Overall, trying too hard to be original… but the burger rocks! Also their hours of operation suck…

Love the craft beer, great beer no doubts. But special Friday chef my ass….Anyone can slice the food and put on the sauce that you can get from superstore. Please serve your regular menu?

I went here this week for the first time. We were happy they were able to squeeze us in but we had the strangest seating. It was extremely low and old chairs in a corner next to a door used constantly by staff. We didn’t often see our server and had to track them down to pay our bill.
They also removed the area with beautiful umbrellas which is what I wanted to come here to see.
The plum sour did not have much taste. The sour Belgian peach beer however was quite good. The cowboy cocktail was also good.

Stopped in with friends for pre-dinner drinks. Great downtown location, wonderful atmosphere, excellent service and a great selection of local, unique beers. We didn't eat but the menu looked diverse and the dishes at other tables looked tasty. 5 outta 5!

Super cool place! Lovely atmosphere and great service. Everyone was kind and welcoming - even when we thought we’d reserved a table, but turned out we didn’t fully submit. They were still accommodating! We got tucked into a pretty corner in what I believe is the ‘rain room’. Very comfortable chairs! Moody lighting and gorgeous ambience! We only had the bread and butter and that was delicious! Such warm and soft bread, and a flavourful butter. The drink selection was also wonderful. Would definitely recommend making a stop here if you’re in Winnipeg!

Nonsuch delivers a burger experience like no other! I had the most *incredible* burger here — warm, perfectly cooked, and bursting with flavor. Every bite was a blend of savory goodness with just the right balance of juiciness and seasoning. It’s hands down the best burger I’ve ever had!
And if you’re a dessert lover, their crème brûlée is simply unmatched. The silky-smooth custard, topped with that perfect caramelized sugar crunch, was the highlight of the meal. It's the best crème brûlée I’ve ever tasted, and I’ll be back for more.
Highly recommend Nonsuch for anyone looking for an unforgettable meal!

Last evening, I had the pleasure of dining at the Nonsuch with my son and daughter-in-law to celebrate his MA graduation. The Nonsuch, with its unique ambiance and delectable cuisine, was the perfect setting for such a special occasion.
We found a good variety of both animal—and vegetable-based dishes that were fabulously presented and incredibly flavourful. Everything was cooked to perfection so that individual flavours could be identified, yet they blended elegantly. Each of us had something different, "le burger", "le squash", and "ricotta gnudi" and we were equally delighted with our selections.
For me, the highlight was the dessert -- cantaloupe sorbet. When it first came to our table with three spoons, I joked asking, Do you think I'm a nice person who is likely to share?" However, after my first mouthful, I had to let the others experience this wonderful desert. The cantaloupe was distinguishable and fresh. It was served on a mallow cushion that I think had a bit of cinnamon in it -- although it could have been something similar. It was the sort of dish that I would select after the theatre or a day at a museum or gallery for dessert and a drink.
Our server, Giselle (sp?), was wonderful. The restaurant's philosophy insists on respect by everyone for everyone in their building, and this was well represented by all the staff. Despite my bits of confusion because I was having a "bad head" day, I felt that our server was determined to satisfy me and was also very friendly, expressing hopes that I was enjoying Winnipeg and stating I was here for a good reason and there is much to enjoy in my remaining days.
Because of my "bad head" day I didn't want a strong drink, but I also particularly enjoy micro and craft breweries, so I tried the Radler, which will soon be discontinued for the winter months. It is only 3.5%, and that lower amount is well within my head injury tolerance range. It was wonderful.
Nonsuch is a place I would recommend to anyone, and I hope I get to enjoy it again.

I hate fancy food. I often find it's just not worth the price tag, being a less enjoyable experience than food I could make myself, but priced well beyond what an average person could ever justify spending on food.
Nonsuch manages to defy this internal grudge logic that I hold. They serve incredible food for a price that, while I would only spend it on a special occasion, is certainly accessible. I was truly blown away by their burger (yes, it's that good) and their sorbet dessert.
It is also one of those rare craft breweries that is able to balance doing something interesting with producing a product that still actually resembles beer. The French Grape Ale, while definitely fruity and adventurous, was still very much an ale and not the fruit punch mess I've grown to expect from the oversaturated craft beer market.
Amazing food, decent drinks, and a price that is actually quite reasonable for the Exchange District.
