Best Jollof I’ve tried in Winnipeg. Oxtail and jerk chicken with rice and peas is delicious too. Would be better if they served white rice with their peppered ponmo and beef but great restaurant regardless
I ordered the jerk chicken and rice and peas . Having been to Jamaica several times, I was so pleased at the authentic flavours. It did not taste like a restaurant meal, just a meal cooked with love.

Since the new owners took over it has definitely gone down hill dry dry dry fries tasted like day olds and chicken is befently not fresh and last delivery they tipped my McCain cake it came to me upside down ...... Try and care a little please never going back unless it gets sold again to new people..

I took my family out for dinner at the chicken chef on portage ave. Everything tasted amazing! we ordered a 3 piece chicken meal, a cheese pizza, and the quesadillas. Everyone enjoyed the food as it tasted amazing! We are making this place a sunday evening dinner routine. Highly reccomend!

The interior has been nicely remodeled. A brassy blonde took our order 3 piece chicken dinners dark meat only. As we waited I noticed one employee at the front tie up his runner without washing his hands after. Several young employees standing around doing nothing yet the coolers/ fridges needed cleaning as they were filled with finger prints/smudges. Door handles should be sanitized etc. Our food came but we both got white meat so we called the server over. She told us only one ordered dark meat which was not true. She challenged us in a loud harsh manner. She then went and brought a young guy from the kitchen to look at our meat. Yikes....he then brought out some dark meat. She continued ranting to other employees that we never ordered dark. Later she blamed the kitchen on the error. Considering her awful manners/attitude I would guess her experience may have been working in tough bars. She was a real know it all. Hope never to see her again as she ruined our meal.

We had a takeaway order. Initially a staff member gave us someone else’s order and had to go back to get ours. We get home and the pizza was the wrong size and wrong flavour. The chicken is now a lot smaller, greasier, and lacking in flavour. The quality is gone—clearly they don’t care about the product they’re putting out. It was much, much better during lockdown, but no longer. Our forty bucks can be better spent elsewhere.
