Nice place, you can find many German products. My recommendation is to check the expiration dates of the products. Some chocolates I bought were already expired.

They have the best Genoa salami in Winnipeg, or maybe even the country!

Leberkase is made on Wednesday, available for pickup Thursday or later. Must call by Wednesday morning to pre-order for bake at home tray (current as of April 2024). I'm excited to have real leberkase in Canada (paired with mustard and some buns from the Crusty Bun). This shop is one of the last standing good European meat shops. This is the only place I'm willing to buy kassler (smoked pork chops). No where else compares!

Fortunate to have a real butcher shop in the neighborhood. Excellent place to shop if you’re looking to avoid ultra-processed food.

Great to still have a German butcher meat shop in Winnipeg. The only one left.By far best brats I've ever had. Home made potato salad is delicious. A great selection. Too many good things to list

I moved here from Germany and this store has provided me with many comforts of my homeland. I love a lot of their products but the Bratwurst is one of the best I’ve ever had. I was even able to get my wife to start eating meat again! The cured farmer sausage also can’t be beat! recently my dad and uncle visited from Vancouver and they walked out with multiple grocery bags of goodies to stuff into their luggage!

My father in law introduced my family to Portage Meats about 30 yrs ago...wow.The best foot long weiners in the world are in that shop, trust me, eating any other is just wasting your time. Plus all the other excellent ethnic goodies on hand are worth it. Another cool thing, the same lady has served up my purchases since day one. I'll be back, you can bet on that !!
