Great steaks, generous portions.

Unfortunately it's really gone down hill with the new ownership. I've been going here for 25+ years, and don't think I'll be going anymore. The quality and preperation of the food, specifically the steak sandwich is awful. Hopefully things will turn around for them.

Great staff, good sear on the steak, good ambiance

The steak is delicious, and the amount of food you get is well worth it, in my opinion. I will definitely be coming back again! The garlic mashed potatoes, the beef barley soup, the French onion soup and the prime rib (I got natural cut), were all amazing, the chocolate cake was also really good. Everyone at the table not only enjoyed their meals but were full by the end of it. The service was great, and the food was fast. I highly recommend trying out rae and jerrys.
I wanted to edit to add: Our server denielle, was a delight, she was super helpful and very attentive.

Loved this place! The food was delicious and the portions were huge — I even had leftovers to take home. Our waiter was super nice and really funny, which made the meal even more enjoyable. Great atmosphere and service. Can’t wait to visit again!

Gorgeous room, just pure midcentury butch splendor. The server cared more about the other tables than mine, forgot my drink, didn't give me a bread knife, had to ask for a napkin, didn't explain the specials, and spent much more time with the tables next to me. The shrimp in the shrimp cocktail was rubbery; the prime rib was over weirdly salty and over cooked, the salad was wilty; the order of the courses was slapdash, and the wine list was embarassingly scant. I am staying in Winnipeg and was really looking forward to eating here, and was deeply disappointed.

Classic unchanged since 1950s. Food good . They need to change flooring which is carpet. Thread bare and very faded.

Steak was amazing. Everything else was just ok. Coleslaw was some of the best I've had. Flicking butter on the plate instead of having it plated was odd. I think it was better when there were older servers perhaps. Coconut cream pie was not good and did not taste like coconut like at all.

I really hate to say this, & really hate leaving bad reviews, especially for one of my fav places but... I've now had 2 subpar experiences here this year & it is so dissapointing as this used to be a solid go to for an excellent steak & meal. Along with excellent service. But now... it's going down hill & I hope they turn it around quickly. The service is slow & horrible. The food takes forever to come (1.5 HOURS from the time we ordered we waited during a lunch service that wasn't even busy!!!) & when it does come it does not have the same the quality or flavor as it used to. They changed the menu & added more options but it may have come at the expense of a sure thing.. before the kitchen dominated in preparing you an excellent meal & now I'd rather go to another steak house who will regularly deliver a well made steak, not as great as the old R&Js steak, but better than what they give you now.. I got the Chicken Pecan salad this last visit as I didn't want to be dissapointed again with the steak & it was just meh, nothing special. Other guests I was with got the steak & was not impressed so I take it the quality is still dropping. The new owners had a sure thing when they took over & just needed to stick to the formula but instead they're messing things up & taking a great restaurant & making it less than. The only thing that is the same is the decor, which hopefully they don't touch that cause that's the only thing working for them... I used to say for years you have to go here, but now I'd say try them if you like, but for a consistent well prepared steak & meal you may want to try another place like Chop or the Keg 😔

I can't say enough about this place... its a step back in time. By far my favorite restaurant in the city. The filet mignon, medium rare, melts...MELTS in your mouth! Sooo delicious!!! Limited menu, but its all delicious! - This was my 5 star review. They're currently not worth that.

The server was awesome and no issues there at all. The prices aren't shy to dip into your wallet. Plan to spend 55 for a basic steak dinner without a lot of extras. The steak was cooked to perfection but to be honest as we were visiting Winnipeg we hit several places and rhe night before we went to a place called BOUJEE and the steak actually did taste better and it's regular price is 21 and we got it for 20 as it was a happy hour special on a Winnipeg Jets home game night.

Under newer o’ship approx year and half ago. Steak is not like it used to be. Rib steak was like something out of Sizzler Steak House, Steak & Shake! Not the usual great Rae & Jerry’s steak from years gone by. It was thin and a bit tough and not 16oz as advertised (I’m a carnivore) instead of the traditional thick marbled cut they used to have. I’ve been going to R&J’s for more than 40 years and it used to be the go to restaurant in Winnipeg for the best steak. Not anymore unfortunately. Salads are very good, and other entree’s like chicken dishes are good, and prime rib. Value is not there anymore.

Disappointing since sold to new owners. Bread was brought out but the butter was HARD. A indication of poor food service. French onion soup was served in a 2 inch bowl instead of the traditional depth of 4 inches. Consequently the croutons soaked up all the soup (which was not much) and you ended up with a bowl of wet bread - no soup. The steak sandwich was ruined by adding bbq sauce. Service was good.

The last couple times I have come to Winnipeg we have come for dinner here, and both times have been amazing!
