Doro Wot
Doro Wot is a stew of chicken and hard-boiled eggs, and it is one of the most recognized dishes of Ethiopia. Stewed in a flavorful Berbere sauce for a very long time.
Cabbage with Beef
Tumeric, ginger and garlic flavored cabbage and beef dish loaded with onions, carrots and potatoes and a lot of spices.
Kitfo
Ethiopian beef steak tartar. Ground lean beef seasoned with warm clarified butter, black cardamom and mitmita. Comes with a side of home made cottage cheese. Severed Rear, medium rear or well done. Let us know how you like it.
Kitfo Dulet
Kitfo Dulet is a mixture of kitfo and Dulet. Dulet is cooked marinated lamb liver, tripe, and topside with onions and spice. Kitfo is chopped raw beef seasoned with chilis and spices and moistened with clarified butter. There are almost no words to describe the enormous flavor packed into this dish.

Injera is a sour fermented flatbread with a slightly spongy texture, traditionally made out of teff flour in Ethiopian. Our regular option includes barley, where as our gluten free option is made of 100% teff.

Recent Reviews

The only gotcha, as an out-of-towner, is that access is NOT obvious from street level. You need to use the unassuming skyway access door at 350 Portage, and then the cafe is accessed directly from the skyway. We almost missed it, and would have missed out!

We got there late, and a number of dishes were sold out.

That already tells you a couple things: the food is always made fresh, and it's popular enough to sell out!

Amaing experience at Red Cherry Cafe. Delicious Ethiopian Breakfast & Lunch, their Firfir with Beef and Foul is amazing, affordable prices.Very friendly staff and good service. Highly recommend!

We got the meat bowl and the food was delicious. The spicy meat stew and lentils were our favorite. Generous portions for the price. The server was really friendly. It is a small little joint and can be tricky to get there. We would come back again.
