Love this place. They're a Winnipeg institution. They serve breakfast till 4pm and their staff is very accommodating and helpful. Was able to make a small substitute from hash browns to their splendid coleslaw at no additional cost. Comfy and has a lived in atmosphere. Feels like a home or a stomping ground.Highly recommended.

I will definitely not be back here after the old guy who is the manager decided to take it upon himself to go and check on my children in the bathroom, my little one with my oldest teen to make sure he’s okay. The manager gave us three different reasons why he went in there which he was rambling on about. I didn’t have a good feeling when we first got in there which wasn’t the same as the last time we went in there but it definitely left a bad taste in my mouth and will never be back there. I thought treating my little family with a dinner would be nice and the kids were very uneasy about the way he kept coming over to give us a dirty look. I apologized to them and promised we would never come back here - lots of other friendly places in this city who will welcome my family.

I had heard about the Red Top Drive Inn but had never been there. That changed a week ago when two friends and I went for Burgers and beer.I hadn't realized that they were licensed ,with limited offerings mind you, but an unexpected perk none the less.I ordered a beer and cheese burger with a half Caesar/half fries side dish.It was a nice touch to be able to order half sides. When my meal came the 'sides' were huge and could have qualified as full sides unto themselves.I am not a big fan of chili on my burgers but I thought I'd give it a try at Red Top (encouraged by my friends) and I am pleased to say it was delectable! The Caesar was tasty and the fries(ordered with no salt) were of the hand cut variety and very good as well. The best part of the whole experience was the bill.$23 for the whole thing! Beer included.I will definitely be visiting this establishment more often.Highly recommend.

A great place to eat. Decent sized portions but a bit small for a Greek restaurant as my father in law is Greek and owned a few restaurants in the city himself. But the food was good. The Greek waitress we had though, came and took our order, found out my father in law was Greek, and we never saw her again, she never came back to ask how our meal was, never refilled our drinks, never cleared our plates, never delivered our meals (another waitress did that). It wasn't busy, but I think she didn't have to look after us due to the fact my dad was Greek and put no effort into waiting on our table thinking we would be OK with it. So kit really impressed with that. She met me at the till though when I went to pay but wasn't thrilled with the small amount I left her. If she was good she would have got a much bigger tip. Tipping is not a guarantee, you need to earn it. I worked Asa waiter and bartender while putting myself through pilot training and my father in law owned restaurants in the city, so we know what good service is and we always over tip for it.Parking: Parking is ok when not at lunch or supper times due to the limited space they have, but it is usually never a problem, but it can be tight at times.

Edit to my previous 5 star for more recent experience. I used to seek out Red Top for breakfast and the fried chicken. The last time we went, two large chunks of breast were taken off the breastbone before breading to use for something else I guess. The fries were basically raw. Very disappointed. So while I previously gave a 5 starrl review, this was a terrible experience. I guess it averages out? We won't be back soon if at all, unfortunately.Previous review: A neat little gem of a restaurant in Winnipeg. Comfy, homey, and old school. Great value in their breakfast special which includes ham, sausage, and bacon. The coffee is fresh and hot.
