We haven't been here in a few years..
We had forgotten about the atmosphere, the ambiance.
I had the ribeye and my date had the filet with the brandy peppercorns sauce....
Good size portions,done to perfection..

Alex P was such a wonderful server, very warm, professional service. Excellent job, I’ll definitely be back on her service alone.

I have tried to find out about music at the restaurant. The website is horribly out of date and email got bounced back! Aargh!

Disappointed
We decided to celebrate our wedding anniversary at this place (it was required by the dinner reservation to mention if there is a special event). After visiting this place almost 10 years ago some taste-less changes stroke me after stepping inside: a dark red paint all over the walls and a humongous tree right in front of the entrance. There was no special greets or welcome/greets arrangement on the table marking the associated event (we’ve been surprised a year ago for same event, to another restaurant in Winnipeg, where they spoiled us with simple but unforgettable welcome)
The food 2 of 5 : Forget the Menu – The Brie fondue not available ( I guess Brie cheese tough to find these days) – The Main server strongly suggested to go with the “specials” ( no details in the menu as been served before) – My wife choose the ( standard) chicken breast and me ( to support the local economy) I choose the Pickerel fillet . Chicken was OK. I had regrets giving up Salmon for (this) pickerel: minuscule and super thin scorched piece of fish with 3 tiny shrimps (not prawns or tiger …those 5$ a pound) and a plate generously filled with half a pound of potatoes, some various type of sauces, some cooked cabbage, asparagus ..not too much “pairing” on the selection. The desert was also disappointing: we picked up the lemon cake – we tried to identify where the “rancid” taste coming and, in the end, both decided that is the “lemon” filling. The drinks: the starter cocktails (we asked 2 Negroni) was clear single Campari taste. The wine was OK, cooled and well served.
Entertainment: Piano night 5 of 5 (this was the main reason why we picked up this place for live entertainment)
You probably ask why we tipped 30$ - I’m NOT a tipping supporter but I feel generous and respectful for Robert, our server's smile and energy ..(and his age too) .
For the management: You may ask your self why some places have people lining up in the lobby anxiously waiting for an available table …and here at 8 PM on Friday night with enjoyable live music, the restaurant was nearly empty.

I just went here the other day on a date with my wife. It easily made my list for top date places in Winnipeg.
We ate in the train portion. It was a very cute date atmospher, nice and relaxing. The music wasnt loud. It was quite enough you can hear each other.
The food was fantastic. For a starter we shared a French Onion Soup. I gotta say, best French Onion Soup I've had. I will honestly be coming back just for that soup. My only regret is not getting my own soup, it was too good to share!
I personally had the Confit de Canard à l'orange. I had never had duck before so admittedly don't have a reference point. I can say it was wonderful though. The meat was so tender. The sauce was perfectly sweet. I couldn't come up with a complaint if i tried.
My wife had the Poulet BBQ à L'Erable. I tried some of it and I'd say that too was absolutely tasty.
The service was also great. Our waiter was incredibly courtious and kind. He made a fantastic punch drink for me that I highly recommend.
Really all and all, highly recommend. I'll be back!

Parking: There was a good amount of parking. And street parking nearby if you cant get a spot.

We held our 50th high school reunion dinner here recently. We were in a private area with great atmosphere which allowed for mingling pre-dinner. The young woman server was superb - handled the somewhat animated group very well. The food is always amazing and was yet again for our event. (The tourtiere is the best you'll eat anywhere.) Everyone, to a person, was delighted with the experience.

Top shelf meals for all 4 of us on Saturday Night here. Sat in the dining car was a bit quieter for conversation than inside with the piano man playing. Food is outstanding from the bread with oil / balsamic to the meals which are very generous portions & quite filling. Was very busy but staff very attentive & accommodating to requests. Higher end meals come with a price but they are very reasonable for the meal your ordering. Very good visit we had here will be back again when in town

I have dined here several times over the years, each time hoping to love it. But while the service and ambiance of the place are great, the food experience has been dismal. It feels like each time I order the wrong thing. This time, it was the seafood crepe. Although the crepe itself was light and fluffy, the seafood inside tasted like the bagged frozen variety that was heated up and mixed with a bland white sauce. Would love to give a higher rating but just can't.

I never want to leave a bad review for any restaurant but this time i have to. The escargot and onion soup were CRAZY SALTY. I dont know what happened to the person cooking it. Did he or she lose their sense of taste? Literally ruined my anniversary with my love. I’m willing to pay expensive food as long as it is good but this is not the case
