Serious Concern – No Response After Illness from Meal

On June 3rd, my partner and I shared a meal (chicken fingers) at Skylights Lounge before our flights. Unfortunately, very shortly after eating, we both became violently ill. I was already on my flight..thankful the seatbelt sign turned off and I was able to make it to the washroom in time. What an incredibly distressing and uncomfortable experience.

I made multiple attempts to contact the restaurant to raise a concern and hopefully prevent others from getting sick. Frustratingly, all phone numbers listed online were either incorrect or out of service. When I finally managed to speak with someone, I was told the manager would be informed and would follow up with me but I’ve yet to receive any response.

The lack of accountability and follow-through shows a blatant disregard for the health and safety of customers. I hope this review serves as a warning and encourages better food safety practices and communication moving forward.

Asked for a vodka soda.
Received a horrible version when I got the bill it was $24. And I asked if that was for a single and she said she did a double . Without asking doubled it. Always ask before assuming staff.

Worst customer service from their server

I had good service and food at the lounge but my concern is with management. My server mentioned that she had a dine and dash. I have previously been a server so I know some restaurants illegally force their employees to pay for such instances of theft. I asked to confirm that she would not be held liable and she said that was the policy. This conduct is shocking and unacceptable. Management should be held accountable for this atrocious treatment of their employees and this illegal policy should be reversed, and the employees reimbursed, immediately.

Really ordinary breakfast for the exorbitant price AND COFFEE IS NOT INCLUDED. The eggs are overcooked, the cook is doing a bad job. I advise you to never eat at this place, it's theft. And I'm not mentioning the processed potatoes and the bread which is not digestible, really disappointed with my experience.

Don't get the steak frites if you want a Steak Frites, just look at the photo. It was even worse than it looks - the steak was decently cooked but the meat cut used is obviously very cheap (probably mostly glue) and far too chewy. They should (1) put the garlic bread on the side to prevent it from getting soggy, (2) get a better meat provider or cut of meat, and (3) not put random condiments and garnishes on the steak to match the menu description in order to justify the prices they charge.

$23.99 for a 9oz glass of Onatario Cab Sav. Pathetic. This is greed at its finest.

We went to the skylight lounge for happy hour. The food and was service was good. However, the manager decided to clean the floors while we were there. The overwhelming smell of the floor cleaner gave us such a bad headache that we had to get out of there as soon as possible. Another couple also walked out because of the smell. And when I complain to the manager, he offered to buy me a drink. That is after I paid the bill. Why would I want to stay longer in that place and have another drink? Suggest management be more considerate of their clients. Too bad, it was one of my favorite restaurants.

I wish I read the reviews before I ordered. Chicken soup that was probably canned and hands down the worst excuse for calamari I’ve ever had. Most of it burnt, had to struggle to find it amongst the curb bits.

The waitress couldn’t be bothered. Every time I needed something I had to find her and wave her over. I was generous and gave her a 15% tip and immediately regretted it, as she took the pay machine and just walked away, no thank you, no nothing. Someone is in need of some serious customer service training!!!

I ordered the Steak Frites thinking it would be a nice delicious meal before I hopped on my flight after a 6 hour delay at the airport. Needless to say, I was thirsty and I was hungry!.. well I couldn't have been more wrong about the deliciousness of the meal. The Steak was cold and rubbery (mostly fat) with no taste whatsoever. The onion rings on top were soggy and cold along with the soggy garlic bread on the bottom. The fries were good but I only took a few bites of the steak and said no thanks to my waiter. I'll just grab a Caeser Salad instead. It's hard to mess that up.The waiter said no problem and told me he was going to take it off my bill since I didn't eat my meal, but to my surprise as I was looking at my bill sitting on the plane I realized he never took it off after I gave the guy a nice tip and everything!Maybe an honest mistake, maybe not but an annoyance at the lease especially because the food was horrendous and over priced for the quality you receive!Won't be stopping in for food next time. Lesson learned!

Decided they were closed at 7pm even though I have taken this late flight many times and have never had an issue.

Josh, THANK YOU from the bottom of my heart for making my day so much brighter. We have been through a NIGHTMARE and a half with Air Canada and started to feel like absolute nothings. Josh completely made our day. Amazing service and amazing spirit. Fantastic Josh! Please, have Josh train every service industry member in the YWG airport. It would definitely boost morale having more like him!!!!
