We had made a reservation for our anniversary and wanted it to be special. Upon arrival it appeared they couldn't find our reservation, even after showing the reservation confirmation on my phone. The host seemed like it wasn't a big deal, and stated you weren't full.. After waiting a few minutes we were brought into the lounge after requesting the dining room on our reservation. The server Liberty was very friendly, knowledgeable and attentive, so there was in no way an issue with her. We both ordered steaks and I ordered mine rare after being told by a friend that you are better off ordering a level under as it's more common for the steak to come a little more done than requested here. I've never had an issue here but I figured I would do it, as I didn't want to have an issue. As to my surprise my steak did not come out rare or really close to rare. I didn't want to make a deal about it at the time because the server was really nice and there's really not much that can be done when it's overdone. The food was all really good otherwise but it was a little disappointing to have our reservation “not in the system” and to be sat in the lounge in a very informal setting for a special occasion. It just seemed to be overlooked. Overall for the price point it was disappointing.
If you’re staying near the Winnipeg train station, the nearby Forks Market food hall has myriad great eclectic fast-casual dining options. But after several of these, we found SMITH, just next door, to be a great choice for an upscale dining experience. Charming and attentive table service, an inventive and varied menu, and an outstanding bar and wine selection.

Ordered beef tenderloin, it was absolutely delicious. Ordered mushrooms and carrots as sides, which were over the tip with flavor.

Smith is an excellent restaurant with a great atmosphere is stylish, cozy, and perfect for a nice evening out. The food is tasty and well prepared, and the service is attentive and professional. Prices are a bit high for the type of dishes offered, but overall it’s a pleasant place to relax, enjoy good food, and share a nice meal with friends or family.

Thank you to our server Liberty for a great dinner experience. A great place to take guests from out of town.
We had a babysitter to go out for a nice dinner, and although the restaurant was almost completely empty, we were sat immediately next to the one family with a screaming baby. The food was really pretty good, however we ordered an appetizer that just didn’t ever show up. The service was extremely slow (for example, we ordered a beer before we got food and it didn’t arrive until we were finished our dinner). Essentially although food was good, it just wasn’t a professionally done restaurant experience.

Great atmosphere & food! Love the Hudson Bay Blankets on the benches! Cozy, inviting environment!
Service was prompt, friendly and very accommodating. We dined on the Thanksgiving turkey board which was delicious. The turkey was cooked perfectly, not dry as can often be the case. Stuffing and gravy were like homemade and the mashed potatoes too. Brussels sprouts were a little crunchy but I prefer that to overcooked. Cranberry sauce also delicious. Also had a starter salad with a fantastic dressing and yummy sourdough bread. Just missed the pumpkin pie! This is such a gem, decor is warm and comfy and love the HBC accents. Well done Smith!
Always a great breakfast. Chia seed pudding is amazing and a nice big bowl of fruit. Service was fantastic as Liberty is a gem of a human.

The night we went there was some sort of mixer happening which made the restaurant very very loud and the atmosphere a little unpleasant. Food and service were excellent though.
Pricier than it should be for a la carte. Not sure I would go back for the full dinner. Possibly better for drinks and snacks (the cauliflower fritters are delicious).

It’s a beautiful space, but the service was distracted, and the food was mixed. I was careful to order only a couple of items given the poor reviews, especially on how meat was cooked. We had the pounded cheddar, the hummus, the meatballs, and the hamburger with truffle fries. We had a flight of local beers as well and a couple of Stella Artois. All of these dishes were good. The pounded cheddar is such an appealing item, but the vinegar is really offputting. Quite frankly, I’m surprised it’s on the menu. It would take nothing to remove the vinegar from the recipe. The hummus was excellent. The meatballs were even better and the hamburger was really good.

Wonderful ambiance. Huge windows bathe the area in natural light. Love the Hudson Bay blanket benches. A nice place to recharge with tea and a snack.
