I come to Starbucks for one main thing: coffee. Not a life-affirming message written on my cup, not a scripted chat at the drive-thru window. Just coffee, done right and done quickly.

The drinks here are usually solid, and the staff are clearly doing their best, but they’re often slammed. You can tell corporate wants them to hit some kind of “personal connection” quota, which only slows things down and makes it awkward for everyone. When there’s a line...

Some might say overpriced coffee, but you get decent standardized lattes wherever you go in the world. They hire local people unlike the competition like Tim Hortons. The food is okay. It's Starbucks, you know what you get!
