The food and atmosphere are great but not on this day, but the service seriously needs improvement.
On February 9th, 2026 at 8:18 PM, we were refused dine-in service and told they were no longer taking anyone to sit and eat — even though the restaurant closes at 9:00 PM. Turning customers away 42 minutes before closing is unacceptable.
For comparison, Asoyama Japanese Restaurant near Route 90 seated us 25 minutes before closing with zero issues and no attitude. That’s how it should be handled.
If your posted closing time is 9:00 PM, customers should not be chased away well before that. Either adjust your hours or honor them properly. This is especially disappointing given the location in a high-traffic restaurant area. Overall, very unprofessional experience. They had no one seated and 5 staff member.
Reply to owner reply: we arrived 8:18pm please read before replying to your customer.
Again I have a recorded time and date please do not call us a liar and just own up. I have added our arrival time.

Impulsively placed an order for pickup and it was already ready in 20 mins. Sushi was very good I love the salmon avocado roll. The Alaska roll was okay. Very friendly service !! Too bad I didn't get to dine in but definitely will in the future

Great sushi!
The menu is a little confusing (sushi in nagiri),.but other than that... The service, the food, the timing, the location - all has been absolutely great.
Now we have two places for sushi in the city, one for take aways and this one is for dining in. We will be back!

We have ordered take-out from here the last few times we were in the mood for sushi. It is definitely one of the best places for take-out in the Corydon/Osborne area. Food is fresh and attractive.
Sushi Ya is hands down my favorite place to go. The owner is always so friendly, welcoming, and generous—it truly feels like being taken care of every time I visit. The food is consistently high quality, fresh, and delicious, and the prices are very reasonable for what you get. I keep coming back and will continue to recommend this place to everyone!

I’ve been eating at Sushi Ya for over 20 years. Almost weekly! I’ve stayed loyal through ownership changes, through Covid, through countless takeout orders and family dinners. The previous owner even knew me by name and always made my family feel appreciated.
That’s why what happened on Friday was so disappointing. I picked up my usual order and noticed when I got home that the soy sauce had been forgotten. I called to let them know, not to complain, but simply because it was missing. Instead of a quick apology, the owner told me he’d refund me and that I should never order from them again because I had “complained before.”
I was honestly shocked. My entire family eats at Sushi Ya. Multiple households, all regular customers. My family alone spends about $100 a week here. To be spoken to that way after decades of loyalty was incredibly upsetting.
It breaks my heart to even write this because we have truly loved Sushi Ya for so many years, but no customer, let alone one who has supported a business for decades should ever be treated this way. I hope the owner reflects on how he speaks to the people who keep his business running!

Went here as an alternative to A+ Sushi being fully booked and needing a reservation. The appetizer green beans were not it. We kinda all spit it out when we couldn’t swallow it (pause). Food was decent and able to be finished (except for the beans). Service was very calm and attended to our needs greatly. Atmosphere is very quiet and the place is also just a little bit dark. Overall, it was okay same with prices they’re okay too.

Delicious sushi. Fair price.
Had a very good experience at this sushi restaurant. The interior and atmosphere of the place was very pleasant and relaxing. Service was great and friendly.
Ordered a few dishes as well as a miso soup not shown in this review. The dragon roll was extremely filling and packed with flavour. The miso soup could’ve been better, it tasted very diluted, they seemed to be skimping on the amount of miso paste used in it. Perhaps changing their ratio would fix that issue quite easily.
Overall, I enjoyed the experience and would try their other menu items. I always order miso soup as a starter so hopefully the next time I visit the owners would’ve seen this review and improve that to make it an even better meal.
