We went last night for my mother in laws 70th birthday. I had the gin lemonade and the prime rib. Gin basil lemonade was way too sweet and tasted different than the keg on st James . Prime rib came luke warm and broccoli was literally burned and cold at the same time which was strange. Mushrooms were cold. Very disappointed. St James keg is always consistent and excellent. This location needs to do better especially because it's classified as fine dining.

This place feels so fancy hahaha. I tried the Escargot side dish. It was sooooo buttery and so good! I was trying not to spend too much so I got top sirloin medium rare and it was PERFECT! My taste buds were blooming with such exquisite taste haha! We also tried the Billy Miner pie which was also sooo good! Other than the food, the service was amazing. Our waitress was so sweet and very bubbly!

We had a bazaar experience. The food and service were great. We had 16 people in our party and everyone had a great time.Half an hour after we had left, the restaurant called (which I missed) and left a message. They then called again 5 minutes later and told me someone in our party had taken someone else's coat. Our group was still together, so I asked everyone if they had their coats on, and they did. I told the person on the phone everyone was wearing their own coat and we didn't grab anything else.5 minutes after that, the Keg calls AGAIN to tell me we took someone's coat. At this point I'm more than irritated, and ask where this missing coat was hung. They tell me it was on a hook behind our table (our table was against a wall). I told them again we're a group of 40 year olds and I think we would have noticed if we had someone else's coat on. Further, I have a picture of all of us (including where our coats were hung) and it only shows ours there.)Such an odd thing to be accused of, and it put a damper on the rest of the evening.Also, we all parked in the parking lot next to the restaurant and came out to see one of the windows on one of our cars had been smashed.Dine here at your own risk, as you may be accused of stealing.And before the restaurant responds saying they were merely calling to ask if we had taken a coat by mistake, the voicemail you left accuses us of taking a coat that wasn't ours.We're never going here again (obviously).
We had the best experience for dinner there yesterday evening. We could not have asked for a better server. The food taste and temperature was perfect!! And this is why we always come back!! Love the Keg??
Very crowded and noisy. Couldn't hear across the table. Food was ok but not as good as it used to be. Our waiter was good but he had been working for 12 hours straight. No attention is paid to the info provided on Open Table.

We had a wonderful birthday celebration for my husband. We have never had a bad meal at the Keg that is why we always have any special occasion dinner with them. Our waiter, Jay was perfect and left us alone just long enough to enjoy our conversation and family time. Perfect evening! I would definitely recommend the Keg, Garry Street for any occasion. Cheers!

Love the Keg! Great service, consistency in food... Steaks , more often than not, however, are wayyyy undercooked. Had to send mine back last nite. When it came back, it was still quite undercooked. Everyone else was finished their meal and I was still waiting for mine to come back.
Food was excellent no complaints. It's very consistent. Last year we went for our anniversary and we received a free dessert to share. It was a nice touch, made us feel special. This time for our anniversary, no free dessert. Like a child we felt sad. But only for a few minutes...

A quick wait and then seated in a beautiful dining room close to a nice fire. Our server was attentive, witty, and in no way over-bearing. The food was amazing, as it almost always is. I had the special, a St. Louis bone-in striploin. Absolutely to die for and cooked to perfection.I paired it with the Rosemount Shiraz that complemented it perfectly.I ordered a side of asparagus, and quickly had to ration out only the tips, as there were so many I knew I wouldn't have room for dessert if I didn't cut a few corners.The missus had a sirloin with fries and a Caesar salad, and she was thrilled. Her pickled Caesar looked like a meal onto itself.We did the brownie sundae for dessert and made our way almost all of the way thru it. So good! And since we mentioned it was her birthday, the manager kindly stepped in with the bill and payed for our dessert.The Keg is my favorite restaurant in Winnipeg, and Garry Street is my favorite of the kegs.Great job!
