I have been a long time customer of Pennyloaf Bakery. I have found since the change in ownership the quality control and consistency has gone downhill. It is still worth a visit and I still shop there. However, it is no longer my automatic go to for a good loaf of sourdough or pastries. I am not interested in the new product lines and cafe. I also find since the change in ownership, all orders I have called in for pick up have been wrong on arrival.

A very obnoxious and an overpriced bakery and baked goods!!! I find their blueberry lemon cake to be very dense, not very tasty and very pricey ($ 16.50)! Their Challah bread is good but the price (almost $$11) is not warranted, you can get an equally excellent quality and taste from Cobs for $6!!!!! Also their bread is overpriced and dry, you can buy better quality from Hildegards! The staff is very unfriendly and unprofessional!

What's up with Pennyloaf? Twice, in the last month, I've walked there during their normal hours only to see they are closed for the day. In the past couple months there has been very little stock except for one day when everything looked great with lots of choices. And yes, I do go early in the day every visit.

We Bought 2 identical pieces of brownies from the same row. We tried the first piece and it tasted like a pot of coffee was poured into it. We didn't recall seeing "espresso" in the name because if we had...we would not have purchased it. Later on that same night, I sliced just a sliver off the second piece. The 2 pieces of brownies were over 10$ so didn't want to waste money. The second brownie was wonderful with zero espresso taste in it!!!So I'm not sure if they are meant to be regular brownies or espresso ?

Do not be fooled, their loaves of bread are penny free. I like

Super-expensive, super-delicious bread and cookies. Glad Pennyloaf is in the neighbourhood. Note that Pennyloaf charges show up on your credit card statement as "Pepper James Esquire I, Winnipeg" located in a residential area out on Wilkes. It's extremely annoying that Pennyloaf cannot use the business name so that you recognize the charge, and don't report credit card fraud, which causes automatic card suspension.

Excellent coffee (I had a cappuccino) and baking (sourdough breads, baguettes, killer pastries like croissants, etc)! Really hope to return to this gem of a place! (Pair their baguette with cheese from fromagerie across the street!)

Outstanding sourdough! Also, the barista made a great Americano whilst giving prescient World Cup commentary, much appreciated!

I buy baking from here often, the morning buns are always a hit. Most recently the coffee - which is a new thing. Oat milk Latte is #1 in the city! Don't forget a cookie with that:)

The bread is incredible and the cookies are excellent-and so generous in size! I will be back often.
