The food is great. There are no words to describe it. The lady, possibly the owner, was exceptionally friendly and proud of the dishes prepared by the restaurant chef. However, they need better plates and cutlery to match their high-quality food. Paper plates? Please, that's unacceptable.

The host at the front counter was friendly, amazing and pleasant. She even gave me a free salad to try with my meal. Although I did not want a salad, she was insistant that i try it. I am thankfull as it was the only thing that was eatable in the end. I told her I judged all caribean restaurant by the quality of the oxtail. The oxtail i was seved was by far the worst I have ever eaten. It was solid rubber, I could not event cut it with a knife much less chew it.she told me the chef cooked it for 2 days. Either he forgot to turn the stove on, or does not have a pressure cooker in the back. The oxtail was served with a coconut and red pea gravy? vs. Lima bean in a true oxtail sauce. The rice &peas had chunks of carrots in the same coconut flavor making both dishes bland and acidic. You could not taste one from the other. I was truly disappointed as I was looking forward to a good meal. Now I am sitting on the toilet with a belly ache writing this review. $30 down the drain. TROPIX YOU NEED TO DO BETTER!Parking: 3 spots at the back. Lots of parking on the road

Salad is 5/5. Oxtail is 1/5 - way too chewy that it tastes like a “quick cook”. Service is 1/5 - Unsolicited “advice” from the waitress. Atmosphere is great. Will not be

Amazing rotis, love the wraps, very filling! We tried the goat, the elk and the chicken. Each protein is spiced an flavoured distinctly to match and enhance the meat. This place has been around for many years and has a loyal following.

I had the half chicken and beef roti. The food was very good. The beef was very tender and full of flavor. The lady taking the order was very nice.

The woman working there is an absolute nightmare. We used to bring that place SO MUCH business, but now my coworkers and I argue about who has to go in to pay which inevitably ends in us not going. Yes, she is that horrible.Example: raised their prices without any updates to their menu. Buddy goes to pay. We had included a tip on a pickup order. Not knowing the prices had gone up, the total basically ate the tip. She got all snarky when handed the money. "What, no tip?!?". I've literally seen her pocket the cash tips. The cooks/other workers never see that money.Food is good, but dealing with her brings my star rating to 2.

Amazing food! Unfortunately the lady at the front could be nicer.. often yells at the kitchen staff, passive aggressive to customers. Kinda entertaining if you can look past it. I keep going back because the food is great, unlike any restaurant in Winnipeg…

Great food and great people. The lady at the counter who took my payment was very personable, the food was excellent and the portion was huge. Great value. Will be back!

BUYER BE WARE! Our first time at this restarant. Have been to Jamaica 3 times but only "resort" cuisine.Have wanted to check out Tropikis for awhile now, so my wife and another couple we go out for lunch at different restaurants about once a month or so, and after reading the reviews decided today would be Tropikis. We went to Tropikis, for a late lunch, with what I thought were "eyes wide open".The Hostess(Michelle) was very personable, knowledgeable and charasmatic. Explained that since they were having difficulty hiring dishwashers since Covid, place settings would be "high end" disposable. We thought we understood and then ordered 2 Combination plates, 2 Roti, 4 salads, and 6 Jamaican Patties, and drank water (plastic glass, fast service plastic knife-fork-spoon, paper plates), proper nakins.Food was interesting, unique , flavorful. Not 5 star but certainly better than 3++.The HUGE surprise was when we went to the Hostess to pay the Bill...........................It was $160.The Food Quality and Chef's creative mind is not the issue, here.............Too bad that this restaurant feels the need to gouge the patrons to account for poor management decisions or lack of creativity wrt the day to day overhead issues.Unfortunatley at these prices, these 4 customers would prefer to share our dine out budget with 2 or 3 other deserving restaurateurs that are in the business of developing return clientele. I strongly suspect we will not be back to Tropikis!
