This hidden gem is a MUST visit!! I landed here twice in the same week. I went to a birthday dinner with family and friends. The owners ordinarily would not have accepted a reservation from our size group (about 17 ppl) at the last minute bc they were short staffed however, they welcomed us with open arms, warm hearts, excellent food, and great service. There were only four employees on duty this day, the owner, the manager, the cook, and a server (his first job and first day)🤦🏾. The way we were treated, you wouldn't believe that it was his first job, or first day! He was nervous but very thorough 😃 The manager and owner came out, had great conversations all while assisting with food orders. The food arrived to the tables steaming hot. It was well-seasoned, and very flavorful... just delicious. After our meal, we met the cook. Unbeknownst to us, he was only 26 years old🤦🏾 His food tasted like our southern grandmother's were in the kitchen. The fish, chicken, greens, pork chops, sweet potatoes made your mouth water. I'm tasting the flavors as I type this review😋😋. I might have to ride out today for lunch😃

My friends and I had dinner from here Friday. I was very excited because I'd seen an IG post for them & the food looked good and I'vebeen lookingforagood soul food place. I ordered smothered pork chops, string beans and mashed potatoes with gravy. My friends ordered jerk wings, a whiting fish sandwich and mac & cheese, collards, and yams. For dessert we got sweet potato pie and red velvet cake. The positives were that the pork chops were huge and you get two, the jerk wings were good & flavorful but, i will say that they sort of taste like a mixture of bbq and jerk. My friend loved his collards, fish and the mac & cheese. I didn't try these. No for the not so positive. I ordered mashed potatoes and gravy to go with my pork chops but was given rice instead, the pork chops were flavorful but a bit salty. The string beans were so salty that I could not eat them. The other person that got string beans felt the same way. Though I liked the flavor of the jerk wings, I would imagine that most people ordering jerk wings want a more traditional jerk flavor. However, I would encourage you to try them anyway. Lastly, the sweet potato pie was definitely not a traditional sweet potato pie, it was more like a custard pie which was surprising, but not bad. I wouldn't get it again though because I wanted traditional sweet potato pie. I will visit this place again but it would be for fish or fried chicken only.

First time eating from BBU. I ordered hard fried cat fish fillets it was cooked and seasoned nicely, the portion was good. My sides were mac & cheese and coleslaw. Mac & cheese was ok a bit under seasoned and the portion was decent . However, the coleslaw was not seasoned, very tasteless and a bit too chunky, dressed with mayo and I believe a hint of horseradish, definitely needs an upgrade, portion size was decent. My other order was whiting, small size fillets however 4 pieces in the dinner. Sides hush puppies and coleslaw. The hush puppies were doughy inside but crusted outside. Couldn't eat the raw dough. Custom service was great and the gentleman was very pleasant and very informative about the restaurant and future endeavors. I would try them again but would try different sides.

First time ordering from this restaurant and we were very pleasantly surprised, everything was delicious! The kitchen has 3 different cooks and they all make their menus, take out only. The employees are exceptional, very friendly and truly grateful for the business. We ordered salmon stuffed with crab meat. It was an dish that you don't see often and it was great, good size as well. We also got fried shrimp, they were very tender and done just right. I loved the mac and cheese, I appreciate it wasn't the common instant cheese sauce, but an actual smokey cheese. The employee Sam was great, opened boxes for us and showed everything we're getting, thanked us for coming and encouraged us to come back. They'll be making family size dishes for holidays as well. We'll definitely be back.

I gave them 1 star only because the catfish was good not great but best edible part of the order. The potato salad was mayonnaise and potatoes, no matter how much I seasoned to even taste close; better off with mashed. No mustard no veggies no sweet NOTHING ? Mac n Cheese so dry it crumbled looked like the leftover at the bottom of the pan scraped up to fill the order. I questioned to myself where was the cheese. Ordered collards never got them ? Fried cabbage, bowl of mush?dark and way over cooked. Needless to say this place will and never hold up to the previous owner of Accokeek Seafood before COVID
No disrespect but this is a review and as a first time customer. I was more than EXTREMELY disappointed.
