My family and I have been coming here for years, since I was a teenager. The owner knows us and we love the food. Really great place. Except tonight our service with Sharon was awful. She was rude and we felt rushed every time we spoke with her, but what stood out most was that she threw the white washcloth at the end of dinner at my husband while he was still eating. It hit him, then fell on the floor. I was absolutely SHOCKED by this behavior and she laughed. All other staff were great, like usual. Sharon could use some more training though.

I went there for carryout. The lady taking my order was very nice. The food was prepared fast so I left feeling that I had excellent service. When I got home both the quantity and quality of the food lacking. I got an order of chicken wings that wasn’t even half wings they were half wings that were chopped in half. I thought they gave nuggets until I bit into a bone. The shrimp fried rice was basically white rice with peas.

I was SO disappointed. This used to be my go-to for the best Chinese food. We got carry-out and All three dishes we got were so dry. The pad thai was dry and the shrimp was rubbery and terrible. I'm afraid this is the last time I'll go there.

I ordered from here after reading the other reviews. Instead of ordering online, I called to speak to someone to ensure that the dishes I ordered would be fully vegan. They were very nice and accommodating. The food was ready quickly but I found it to be fairly bland. I love that that have options for vegans, but it could stand to be more flavorful.

I was disappointed in the flavor of the food. Sweet n sour chicken - every bready and the chicken was bland. Chicken fried rice- little to no flavor, tasted like plain rice with bland chicken and small boiled veggies inside. Chicken szechuan was orange with only chicken and celery and a very overpowering spicy heat. The people are very nice , but I doubt I will return.
Wanted Chinese carryout for 3 people. Called in my order and received a call 20 minutes later telling us it was ready for pickup. Walked out with Kung Pao Chicken, steamed dumplings, shrimp fried rice, Thai beef in red curry, and beef with broccoli. Cost me less than 1/2 of the cost of going out to dinner. We ended up with enough food for left overs for two more days! The food was prepared excellently. The staff were professional, friendly and quick. I would highly recommend House of Hunan to anyone for quality Chinese and Thai food at a very reasonable price. We will be back!

Serious, and polite hostess/waiter/cashier explained that the vegetarian menu is vegan. The "chicken" curry was delicious, and contained round pads of a chewy pale material, onions, peas, hot pepper seeds, and curry. It was spicy enough that I had to use the entire tiny box (marked 8) of white rice to be able to eat it after a spice-induced coughing fit.

Ordered by phone while on the way from Calvert to Annapolis. Told the guy maps was telling me 20 minutes. The food was perfectly timed to us getting there. They called me right as we pulled into a parking space saying the food was ready. Picked up the food, took it to the hotel. Very good orange chicken. Good sized portions for a very reasonable price.
