Great Mexican food is my holy grail. In every place we’ve ever lived, there’s always the top choice. Today we found it!
The menu is very diverse, and had clearly marked gluten-free options. There were several dishes that were vegetarian in their basic form, but could be made non-vegetarian easily.
I had the Chile Poblano — a long-standing favorite of mine — and if you get it, choose the black mole topping. Here, it immensely flavorful and *spicy.*
Well worth going downtown. The restaurant is located in an area with three large public parking lots nearby.

Gilbert(pronounced Jilbert) was an amazing host! I walked in with my fiance this past weekend while it was down-pouring and he greeted us with a smile. We were originally headed to another food spot as we passed by and decided to stop in.
My fiance and I got the birria tacos along with their offered chips and salsa. They were to DIE FOR. The birria was some of the best I've had in a long time. Gilbert was very proactive in making sure our drinks never ran dry & that we had all desires fulfilled.
The icing on the cake is the story behind this place, take the chance to read the back of their menu! It's really awesome to see it's family owned and been a dream of the family's for awhile. Definitely stop in and check them out! Priced fair, food's impeccable, and the staff is top-notch.

I have been to picante a few times, and the service and food has always been excellent. Last night, I went with a few friends of mine for a later dinner around 8:30/9 or so, and it was the best visit so far. Greeted by each one of the employees in passing and we had the amazing pleasure of David being the bartender. As soon as we entered, David ran up to the hostess stand and greeted with such amazing hospitality. Throughout our visit, he interacted with us, laughed with us , and made sure everything was perfect up until the moment we left. Yes, the place was empty, but we have all been to those places where employee do not interact with customers, even on slow nights. David truly went above and beyond. Thank you so much, David! Picante, thank you so much for hiring an amazing individual that delivers that 200% customer service!
