Our 1st time eating here and we will be back! The food was delicious and very plentiful! Enough to take home for next nights dinner! Our server Irene was veery attentive and very pleasant to chat with, which is a huge plus IMO. Went home with dessert for later and totally enjoyed our meal. Thank You!
Fantastic all around from the food to the service to the drinks to the whole environment. My girl loved the food and our waitress was wonderful and made her way around her tables in a timely manor. 11/10 I would recommend this place 100% and can't wait to take my girl back very soon!
Captain James Landing was a very nice place to dine, the food was good and the service was excellent!!!
The service was slow and detached. The food was just ok and my salmon smelled fishy. The sangria was excellent, however not enough to have me come back.
We celebrsted Galentine's Day Scallops and Grits was delicious. The best appetizer was the crab nachos. We ordered those twice!
Our party of six ordered from the Baltimore restaurant week menu. Everything we ate was really good. For appetizers I had fried calamari and my partner had mussels. I would highly recommend the mussels. For our entree I had marry me chicken whereas my partner had lamb chops. The lamb chops were tender and perfectly cook. My friends had the steak and crab cakes and they raved about their food. Lastly for dessert we had the peach pie and creme brulee. The creme brulee was really good. We felt dinner was a good value as the portions were large. Also, the restaurant had free parking across the street. This was a huge plus given street parking has been a challenge due to the recent snow storm.
We loved the ambience, love the menu, and received absolutely amazing service from Joyce. The food was pretty good, but I thought my stuffed shrimp were pretty small and my serving of broccolini was skimpy. The noise level would have been perfect - except for the unfortunately fact that I (the reviewer) was seated with the speaker for the dining room right behind me. At times the music would peak at a loud level. Parking is ample and free, and the restaurant is handicapped accessible - but it can be a bit dicey getting across the street from the parking lot to the restaurant. I suggest dropping off your handicapped and older and very rambuncious party members at the restaurant entrance first, before parking. All of these are really minor things. I picked this restaurant for my birthday celebration with family. I love the atmosphere, the fact that it's a long-time family restaurant and that it's a Baltimore staple, plus the service, and I would definitely come here again.
This was my third time here in about 4 years and each time I leave so happy. The food, drinks, and service was great! Our food came out fast, hot, and delicious.
Small overpriced appetizers. Appetizer was good but way overpriced. Sandwich was good but not prepared as ordered. Caesar salad dressing was bland.
First time in Baltimore and would definitely go back to this restaurant on the next visit. Good, fresh food. Service was attentive and very helpful.

We wanted to try their breakfast menu, but I ordered the NY Strip, with homefries and garlic green beans. The steak was prepared with a perfect medium temperature and herb butter compound. The green beans were sautéed in butter and fresh garlic. The homefries were seasoned with Old Bay, and next I will get those with eggs and bacon. My favorite part of the meal was hot apple cobbler with a scoop of vanilla ice cream. I love when a restaurant offers dinner for breakfast, and Captain James was a perfect setting for a delicious meal. Our server Gina was a pure Joy. Octavio, the General Manager, frequently stopped by our table to ensure all was well. It was a great start to our Saturday morning. All aboard for a decadent meal!!
I order the same thing every time I eat here. I'm sure everything on the menu is worth the price you pay.
I have rarely ever eaten seafood so fresh as yesterday at Captain James. The Raven's Roost was terrific, especially the Snowcrab legs and the Ceviche; excellent Virginia and Maryland Oysters, too. The shrimps were a bit chewy. The entrées were fine. Hard recommendation for the cheese grits side, which I hadn't had so creamy and rich before. The lobster roll was a bit bland but of good quality. The glazed salmon was an interesting fusion experience, though a bit heavy on the Umami for my taste. The drinks were alright and we finished with an honest coffee and cheesecake, which were nothing special but certainly not bad either. It seemed to be a rather quiet night, which might explain why the staff appeared a bit lethargic. Overall, we had a very pleasant dining experience with an extraordinary quality of the fresh seafood.
I absolutely loved the seafood platter and can't wait to go back again. The Crabs are good too!
