We loved the ambience, love the menu, and received absolutely amazing service from Joyce. The food was pretty good, but I thought my stuffed shrimp were pretty small and my serving of broccolini was skimpy. The noise level would have been perfect - except for the unfortunately fact that I (the reviewer) was seated with the speaker for the dining room right behind me. At times the music would peak at a loud level. Parking is ample and free, and the restaurant is handicapped accessible - but it can be a bit dicey getting across the street from the parking lot to the restaurant. I suggest dropping off your handicapped and older and very rambuncious party members at the restaurant entrance first, before parking. All of these are really minor things. I picked this restaurant for my birthday celebration with family. I love the atmosphere, the fact that it's a long-time family restaurant and that it's a Baltimore staple, plus the service, and I would definitely come here again.

This was my third time here in about 4 years and each time I leave so happy. The food, drinks, and service was great! Our food came out fast, hot, and delicious.

Small overpriced appetizers. Appetizer was good but way overpriced. Sandwich was good but not prepared as ordered. Caesar salad dressing was bland.

First time in Baltimore and would definitely go back to this restaurant on the next visit. Good, fresh food. Service was attentive and very helpful.

We wanted to try their breakfast menu, but I ordered the NY Strip, with homefries and garlic green beans. The steak was prepared with a perfect medium temperature and herb butter compound. The green beans were sautéed in butter and fresh garlic. The homefries were seasoned with Old Bay, and next I will get those with eggs and bacon. My favorite part of the meal was hot apple cobbler with a scoop of vanilla ice cream. I love when a restaurant offers dinner for breakfast, and Captain James was a perfect setting for a delicious meal. Our server Gina was a pure Joy. Octavio, the General Manager, frequently stopped by our table to ensure all was well. It was a great start to our Saturday morning. All aboard for a decadent meal!!

I order the same thing every time I eat here. I'm sure everything on the menu is worth the price you pay.

I have rarely ever eaten seafood so fresh as yesterday at Captain James. The Raven's Roost was terrific, especially the Snowcrab legs and the Ceviche; excellent Virginia and Maryland Oysters, too. The shrimps were a bit chewy. The entrées were fine. Hard recommendation for the cheese grits side, which I hadn't had so creamy and rich before. The lobster roll was a bit bland but of good quality. The glazed salmon was an interesting fusion experience, though a bit heavy on the Umami for my taste. The drinks were alright and we finished with an honest coffee and cheesecake, which were nothing special but certainly not bad either. It seemed to be a rather quiet night, which might explain why the staff appeared a bit lethargic. Overall, we had a very pleasant dining experience with an extraordinary quality of the fresh seafood.

I absolutely loved the seafood platter and can't wait to go back again. The Crabs are good too!

If you only get one thing here, make it the crab dip served in a sourdough bowl. According to my dining mate who lives in Maryland hand has lots of crab dip, this was the best she ever had. We each got crab cakes for dinner which were also delicious. Service was great. A bit pricy, but worth it. Parking lot across the street made things easy too. Totally recommend.

We celebrated my sister's birthday with a Sunday afternoon gathering at Captain James Landing, and it couldn't have been better. Our server, Kristin, provided stellar service - attentive, friendly, and incredibly accommodating to our party of six. The food was just as impressive. We enjoyed a variety of dishes, including the crab and potato frittata (I'm a big fan of breakfast any time of day, and thankfully CJL serves brunch all day!), stuffed shrimp, calamari, grilled octopus, a combo of cream of crab and Maryland crab soup, the broiled seafood platter, and wings. Every single dish was outstanding, and the entire group agreed it was a fantastic dining experience.

My first but not last time there. The food was OUTSTANDING. Servers were friendly and accommodating. There is a second part of the restaurant across the street in the parking lot on the harbor that manly serves just the crabs and mussels that I will try next time. I hear it's ALL YOU CAN EAT Monday-Thursday

For most of our group, this was the first visit to Captain James Landing Restaurant. We were celebrating my son's birthday and the place was recommended by my granddaughter after she'd had a party there for her boyfriend. The exterior and interior of the restaurant are designed to look like a ship. Very cute idea! I loved the look and the ambiance of the place. The young man at the front desk and our server were friendly and helpful. Food was very good. All eight of us enjoyed our meals, but my crabcake was overly bready and another guest complained that her scallops were mushy. Food was seasoned well though and portion size was good. Also, the restaurant offers brunch all day, a plus for our group, since 2 of us ordered chicken and waffles. Another plus was the free parking lot directly across from the restaurant. We had a very nice celebration and enjoyed our dining experience.

For over 20 years, I've always had a great experience with the staff and food at this restaurant!

Went there on July 13, 2025, a Sunday, along with an acquaintance. We ordered a dozen of medium crabs that appeared large in size. Next we had sirloin steak, snow crab legs, salmon, scallops, crab cakes, and shrimp. Awesome meal, very delicious. The atmosphere was wonderful. Miguel was perfect and was taken care of for his services. I will be back again. Perfect date.

Nice atmosphere, but I was very let down with my meal. I ordered the catch of the day. I expected a nice seasoned filet. Instead, I got the whole fish, head, tail, and all the bones. I spent my dinner dodging fish bones. Additionally, the fish meat was very bland. I asked the waiter how it was cooked, and he failed to explain that it was a whole fish. It was also very pricey.
